LOL! I love this! Oh man, I think I was just sold for a Wii. They have to add more out of place characters! Please, oh please, there HAS to be more! :]
Okay, maybe I'm overly excited about this, but I LOVE Smash Bros.

It doesn't use the Wii controller? Then what's the point...? I mean, why use the GCN controller? Why not use the "shell" controller, or whatever?

Would you rather buy 4 brand new controllers.
Or use 4 controllers most people who play Smash Bros probably already have?
And quite frankly, I'm assuming the director could make the game around it.
Lazy developers FTL :p
~Edit~
Spoke too soon..
"Under the direction of series creator Masahiro Sakurai, Super Smash Bros. Brawl will feature two control modes: motion-controlled and classic, GameCube-style combat. That means players who prefer to play the game with the traditional control setup can do so using the GameCube controller they're already accustomed to while the new motion control adds a new dimension previously not available in fighting games."

HAAAAHAHAHA!!
SOLID SNAKE!
GOLD!!!
Oh man...maybe I'll have to get a Wii for Smash Bros.
<3
I predicted Pit, Wario, and Meta-Knight the other day actually.
I'm also expecting Waluigi and Diddy Kong and maybe King K. Rool, Dedede, and Banjo-Kazooie.
Any other predictions?
Edit: Maybe Conker too?

OMFG! Cancel E3. Just end it now!
The next generation console war is already over. In what quite possibly may be the most clever attack ever, Nintendo has just dominated, demolished, raped, and given a tidal-wave spanking to both Sony and Microsoft. Following the unexpected announcement, gamers around the world cried out in rejoice as Nintendo unveiled the newest iteration of the most successful game series ever, Super Smash Bros. The new title, Super Smash Bros: Brawl is expected to slash to pieces both Sony and Microsoft's next generation E3 announcements.
After the announcement was made, a poll was conducted asking gamers what excited them most about Microsoft and Sony's presentations at E3. 97% chose the option, "Who the f---ing hell gives a rat's ass about their worthless sh-t. All I care about is Wii and Super Smash Bros.: Brawl."
Neither Sony nor Microsoft representatives were willing to comment following the Earth-shattering news.
OMFG! Game of the Year. Everyone will buy a Wii. The system and game will be sold out for months. Pre-orders are probably already gone. I will kill for this game.
I just excreted all over myself, the chair, and my floor. Now I'm convulsing and screaming in my excrement. OMFG!

But guys, please watch your language. Last time I checked, raping was illegal. And I absolutely hate 'omfg', especially when it's fully typed out. It's religiously offensive.
Do the Wii controllers have cables? If not, then imagine 4 wireless controllers versus 4 GC controllers.. 8 player Smash Bros... mmm...smash bros..

Er, this really bothers me. Great and all. But it's like with the DS. Most of Nintendo's games don't even use the touch screen function well. Seems stupid IMO. And like with cube how they made the A button extra big to be the focus, but how many games used it that way? This is the one thing that makes me worry about Wii and it's future.
Canyarion
05-11-2006, 06:09 AM
But in the meanwhile more 3rd party games start to use the touch screen more. EA said something like that I think.
And as long as the DS is doing great, I don't see a problem. Though the Wiimote doesn't have any 'normal' functions like the DS has...

New news from the offical JP boards on the SSBB site. It's been translated by a few peeps. Though some of the Japanese is a bit vague, this is the conclusion people have reached about what has been said:
-Many characters will have their movesets remade
-Not all characters will return
-Game tempo will change
-Aerial game will be expanded
I, like most of the people on smashboards, are thinking clones will likely be removed or merged while more original characters will be safe. If folks like Pichu go I don't think many will complain.

Bad choice. There should always be more characters but never the removal of previous fighters.
As for move sets being remade. Good! Shiek is overpowered and cheap. Mewtwo needs some stronger moves.

Excuse me, but in the original smash bros Luigi and Mario weren't exactly the same. It was Luigi's superior jumping that lead me to choose him in the first SSB.

I know, but the difference was just too small imo. Sure, having 2 'versions' of a fighter is fun, a lot of games have that. But I can understand they're cutting back on some. But Dr. Mario is the only one I really won't miss.

Actually Luigi was a bit different than Mario in Melee especially when they had one attack different which really changes stuff around.

In the E3 trailer and announcement of Super Smash Bros Brawl, after the Nintendo character Wario is introduced, an explosion is set off. From a distance, the shot then shows what looks very similiar to an atomic blast. "In a tragedy that killed over 200,000 people, this is not what Id like to call quality family entertainment," said Miyosho Kazuwaski, President of the Atomic Rememberence Committee. Nintendo has yet to comment.

As opinion-based as this gets, I don't consider Hiroshima and Nagasaki a tragedy. Not in WW2. We even warned them. It was their own fault.
Chernobyl was a tragedy. Unleashing the a-bomb, although a long term problem, resolved WW2.
People get offended way too easily though. I remember reading a list of songs and things that "should be banned" after 9/11. They even wanted to change the name of The Two Towers. Because...you know...tolkien named his novel that to offend the victims of 9/11... back in 1954.

Well except for the fact that they really didnt give Japan time to surrender after the first dropping. I mean 3 days between droppings was definately not enough time. Nobody knew what happened to hiroshima after the Enola Gay dropped Fat man (the bomb) on the city because practicly every communication line was gone, so many died and no one could get word out.
I somewhat agree to the first dropping, becuase the U.S. saw what that the Japanese would fight to the death and they wanted to spare thier soldiers lives, and yes the allies warned Japan at the Potsdam conference, saying we posses a weapon that will utterly anhiliate you, but remember that no one had seen a weapon that was that destructive and most of it was played off as propoganda.
There has even been speculation that Japan would have surrendered on its own since it's German ally was defeated and that the Soviet Union declared war on Japan as negotiated at (Yalta? Casablaca?) conference.
but this is opinion biased, and not trying to stir up an arguement, just my 2 cents.

Yes.
If your government decides to go on a crusade in an attempt to take over half the world, and you honestly don't expect any retaliation...the Japanese joined up with the Germans, who in case you didn’t know, killed millions of Jews. I realize this wasn’t public knowledge till after the war. But, in my defense to that exact argument, which you may or may not use against me, I present you this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_731
It’ll blow your mind. This also wasn't public knowledge, but it goes to show that there was bad blood on a lot of people's hands.
in a time of war, to say they had it coming, was an understatement
A government is a representation of the people, or control of the people. I'm sure there were a few people that didn't support what the government was doing at the time, but you have to wonder how many there were. And, the main differences is that we warned them. It was't like 9/11 (which was only surprising in the way it was executed, because you and I know people hate America) because it wasn't a blind act without warning. We said, "hey Japan, we have this bomb that kills tons of people, surrender, or we unleash it on you." And they rolled their eyes. If anything is a tragedy, it was bomb 2 like Fox said. They were using their massive population to launch suicide attacks on our troops, is how dispensable their population was at the time. Kamikazes, such a bold form of warfare.
