I like how the e3 forum has turned into the Nintendo forum part 2...

Some folks forget there are two other companies.

Anyhow, Sony is the first one up with a press conference tomorrow/later tonight on my time zone but eh.

I created the Nintendo thread for me, namely. But thought if others could make use out of it I would help out.

If you look at my thread, it's got a link to a site that will have all 3 conferences after they've been broadcast. After that was added, I changed the title of my post to something to do with all Press Conferences. However, only the title of my post changed, and not the title of my topic.

So, dunno if your statement was aimed at me, but that's why it is the way it is. And honestly, the root of this site, was a Nintendo site; it's not surprising or negative that we've maintained a level of Nintendo fans.

Regardless, good to know.

There's only more Wii threads in this forum because that happens to be the interest of E3 for everyone.

BreakABone

My statement was not aimed at anyone. Was just pointing out there are three major companies for this thing and for the most part all threads in this forum are nintendo related.

I know its the nature of the forum due to its history, but eh.

Anyhow, I think its also easier to have a thread for each conference if its anything like last yr.

Well Nintendo already achieved what I think they wanted: some hype. :) The only thing interesting from Sony so far is the advertisements.

New controller, price of the system, online network; should be good stuff. Don't forget that Square Enix's conference is also today at 11:30am PST, with possibilities of FFVII Remake and FFXIII, among other things.

well i can see how it would be.. any time they're unvieling a new console there 'more' interesting, but even then i find it utterly boring to sit thro the technical mumbo jumbo just to get to the point. i may take a brief look at em when its a new console unvealing, but other then that i cant stand to watch any of em, they're all exactly the same.

wow...the Warhawk demo with your hand movements directly connected to the tilt of the spacecraft was definately impressive

the tech EA Sports showed was also crazy...virtual Tiger Woods never looked so good. Some of the gameplay footage looked very new...like Eight Days, the realtime combat looked very cinematic, as in what you'd see in an action movie.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was such a tease, haha....the visuals were ridiculous, though...the animation was unreal.

Im definately psyched....Playstation continues to lead the way in my eyes

AND with a prospective dead-upon-arrival format like bluray?

Well we'll have to see Nintendo's conference to do any real weighting.

Anyways, this must be the fastest Sony's ever stolen from Nintendo, innit?

$499 and $599?

Insane. My purchase decision has been made. Too bad.

It's really kind of disgusting how fast Sony copied Nintendo. They didn't even get past E3 before they did it.

copy and improve. thats what its all about. they all steal ideas off one another. nothing new there.

sony making some smart moves tho it seems.

everyone talking about how they copied nintendo... but seems to me they took the xbox live button idea from MS too. looks like that center PS logo button in the cetner of the controller might do something similar.

And im very happy to see the wireless controller has the option to be wired. VERY useful feature. i'd of hated to have to worry about batteries all the time.

BreakABone
05-08-2006, 10:39 PM
It depends..

Seems like in order to copy, they had to remove rumble from the DualShock.

Null
05-08-2006, 10:47 PM
if its missing rumble, that might have more to do with the lawsuit rather then the motion.

be interesting to see tho if they find a new way to impliment the forcefeedback.

[edit] actually the reason they say kinda makes sense too, the rumble interferes with the motion sensing. which i could see happening.

I hate to sound negative but I had to sit through that.. granted its my own doing but eh.

Anyhow, it just seems like Sony is making all the wrong moves.. maybe I am mistaken.

I know this much was out of their hands, but Rumble has pretty much became standard in controllers and to take it out just seems like a step backwards.

Then they tried to follow the 360's route with two SKUs, but in the process made the cheaper one even more crippled and seems non upgradeable. In the cheaper version, you won't get WiFi or HDMI support, worse off it doesn't look like it supports any memory cards.
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/705/705887p1.html

And of course, the pricee puts it out of the casual market atleast for now. Granted, I'm sure people will still buy but eh.

and it also looks like the tilt function is a bit more limited than the Wii's and also I think it only detects original motion and not like depth or speed, I could be mistaken here.

also don't take up like an hour with racing games.. especially when one is a port and the other is a 10 year old game on the go... granted Nintendo has done this stunt, but they never spent 10 mins reshowing the super mario advance line

Null
05-09-2006, 12:14 AM
actually i dont like seperate bundles or systems at all, i think they should all be the same. However, the way sony is doing it IMO is much smarter. they take away things to bring down the cost that WONT effect gameplay. rather then take something away like a HD that will HUGELY effect gameplay.

I'm most disappointed with the boomerang being gone.

GameMaster
05-09-2006, 03:44 AM
I think I prefer to game 'rumbleless'. When it's a game that requires acute timing and reflex, rumble just messes me up and makes it more difficult. It's not that realistic anyways, at least not on the Gamecube.

It doesn't matter anyway, Sony can't undo screwing themselves over now. They've branded the PS3 as the over-priced system that's attempted to rip-off features from the other two systems at the last minute in an effort to succeed. Unfortunately, that kind of underhanded **** doesn't wash with the gaming community.

Teuthida
05-09-2006, 03:50 AM
I had a WaveBird for cube but I always prefered the standard controller for the rumble. Hard to go back to a rumbleless world.

Wow, this is shocking I expected Ninty's tech to get copied after a year or so. The only bad thing about this is that this will make Nintendo more paranoid about revealing new products or game ideas. *sigh* :(

Teuthida
05-09-2006, 08:57 AM
Nintendo really has every right to be paranoid. To be copied this soon is insane. From now on they should reveil something only if they plan to release it the following day.

I'm most disappointed with the boomerang being gone.
Me 3.

I'll post what I posted earlier

Wouldn't it be funny if Nintendo suddenly said "hahah, that was our fake secret controller, that idea was destined for failure" and then they go back to copying the dual shock controller.

I wonder if Sony would follow Nintendo? Most likely.

If anything what Sony have done with their controller shows that they are concerned with Nintendo being in this generation gaming and they will try anything to stop them....this is where they may lose out. They shoulda stuck with the original banana controller.

Null
05-09-2006, 09:31 AM
i doubt the boomerang controller woulda had rumble in it either.

im pretty sure rumble was NOT taken out for the motion sensing, i think motion sensing was put in to hide the missing rumble because of the lawsuit.

i foget the companties name... immersion? something like that.. sued both MS and Sony saying they used thier force feedback technology in thier controllers.

MS had the smarts to settle outta court.
Sony had the balls to fight it.

MS settled and payed them i dont know how much, plus licensing fees for using it. Sony Lost, appealed. and i believe lost the appeal.

Because I hoped it would be funny, like the 1-minute thing. =) I laughed at Ridge Racer - Riiiiiiidge Racerrrrrrr!..... it was a ROM!!!!! >.<

And all the noobs who don't know how to play... or games that aren't finished yet and you can see it.... or a certain air combat game that looks impossible to play due to oversensitive controls.

I may be wrong about some things, but that's just the impression I got from the presentation. :)
