The movie looks amazing and so true to the game. Download it if you have the chance.

Oh WOW.... That was a great watch +imaginary rep for the poster on that one.

I just love the theme for the movie... I have high hopes that this movie will put an end to the "Movie from Game usually sucks" stereotype. And if this movie pleases me, the director will have forever etched a place in my library of elite directors.

The movie comes out this Friday. Who's going to go watch it? :]

Probably not. Maybe if I read that it's not as scary/violent as the game.
I decided not to watch movies like The Ring and TBP. :)

If you listen to the critics, it's a piece of trash that's not scary, takes itself too seriously, contains laughable dialogue, and makes little or no sense despite a long attempt at trying to explain itself...

Which basically sums up the game series itself (minus the label of "trash" and the attempts to explain itself)...

I never found the games very "scary", exactly... Moreso just dark and twisted, which is what the movie is...
And while it's sad to see laughable dialogue carry over into the movie, when it boils down to it if I could tolerate it in the games, I can tolerate it in the film... (http://mysite.verizon.net/vze7t5gw/sh.mp3)

And I think the movie makes sense in that usual vague, some-stuff-left-up-to-personal-interpretation Silent Hilly sort of way...

Where the movie scores a big win is the visuals... They absolutely positively nailed the Silent Hill visual style and atmosphere... The monsters look amazing, and what's even more amazing is that, despite some people's complaints of "Terrible CGI monsters", they were done mostly by practical means (people in suits)...
And the otherworld... Oh, the otherworld... My only complaint is that the movie didn't spend enough time there...

So while the general public views this as video-game movies moving from over-stylized cornball action flicks (Resident Evil, Doom) to over-stylized nonsensical, boring trash, I think it's a tasty treat for Silent Hill fans...

I saw it with a few friends who never played Silent Hill, and they absolutely loved it, especially the music. Now they're all looking into each SH game and reading up on the history and ****, asking me questions all god damn day.

A great flick in my mind. I mean, it was Silent Hill on the big screen, every detail in tact. Nice job.

I enjoyed the movie as well. The movie seems to be a love it or hate it when it comes to the public.

Saw it on the weekend. Quite enjoyed it. There were some parts that were pretty laughable. And it was quite gruesome at points. I was actually....in laughter shock when those points happened.

We only kept it at our theatre for a week. Guess that speaks for itself.
