Sugar? Getting some fresh air from time to time. Get someting to DO, maybe your Gameboy or whatever.

Light exercise.

Other than that, it's easier than it seems. I'd do it every night if it weren't for feeling absolutely crappy the couple days after you do it.

Activities, anything to make you pay attention to what you're doing. I find video games and sugar works well

Agree with the above comments:

-always stay busy enough to not wear yourself out
-sugar
-fresh air
-stay cool

OOOO i forgot about exercise. If you're doing this at school and can get a game of dodge ball or something going all the better, and fresh air is a good thing.

Fresh air, exercise, don't sit around you'll doze off and never wake up. Staying up all day/night is fun, but I always feel pretty bad 2 or 3 days later, especially if I don't make up the sleep. It's mostly stomach stuff, my immune system is pretty good.

An alternate to crappy energy drinks is coffee. Coffee has 0 calories minus flavoring, is easy to make, has a pretty decent amount of caffiene, and at worst will stain your teeth over long periods of consumption. And possibly give you ulcers.

Finally a subject I know.

I stay awake all the time, if anything, being awake at hours unimaginable is my job. It's a volunteer job, but we're organized.

Anyways, I havent found any 'tricks' to staying awake otehr than the obvious ones.

Make sure the room your in is moderately lit, but not a dim light, and not scaldingly bright.

Make sure you dont like down, nomatter how bad you feel like stretching. If you need to stretch, stand up.

Keep yourself busy. This is easy for me, because I write music, but if you're just playing games, or sitting at the computer, make sure you constantly have things to stimulate your mind, nomatter how minuscule of a stimulation it may be.

Stay away from milk. Cold or warm. Keep away.

Sugar doesnt help. Not in the longrun, because you'll burn out.

But ultimately, since this is in a well lit setting, with a possibility of endless excersize oriented activities, you're practically set.

Just know, boredom leads to sleep. So stay entertained.

No Doz....if wasn't for that I would sleep through all my classes. I don't get any buzz from it like I do with coffee or soda though.

Sugar is a no no unless you constantly gorge yourself with it. If you don't eat at all that will help too since at least for me it's harder to go to sleep hungry than not.

Staying busy is most important. Keep your mind active but not exhausted.

But if it's just 24 hours you don't really need anything. If was 3 days or something, caffeine would help. I personally like energy drinks. Love the taste of Red Bull and Bawls but too expensive to have often.

Lan party? Bawls...that's like the official drink of those. Mighty tasty. I haven't had a Rockstar. I'll give it a try next time I go for my 4am caffeine run.

Wear comfortable clothing and eat chips.

i still think sugar is good... i eat chocolate. It has caffeine and is tasty.

I think you should eat otherwise you'll run out of energy. But don't eat so much that your body is spending all of its energy digesting.

Just stay busy. Don't get bored. Best advice you can follow I think

Play Civilization 4. :) "Just one more turn...."

Upbeat music and large amounts of alcohol spread throughout the night seems to work wonders as well, considering how easy it is to stay up 'til dawn when I'm out drinking with friends even though we don't mean to stay up that late.

You can manage it without drinking/eating/inhaling/injecting/whatever if it's only for a night. Studying the whole night is something I do sometimes, and we all know how boring studying is :) I've never come to the point where I couldn't keep my head up. You just sleep all day long the next day though :)
