The biggest surprise you can think of is them bundling all the previous Zelda titles despite the fact that Revolution is basically going to have the ability to do that on it's own? *scratches head*

It's only an idea. I didnt mean the ONLY thing that would surprise me but I cant think of other things to surprise us with...except maybe an earlier release date :p

*checks date* Nope, March 30th. Tomorrow is March 31 so they cant use the "But its April 1 in Japan" thing.
It looks legitimate. The online zelda possibilities intrigue me but not sure how that would work out

I wouldnt call it "OMGWTFBBQLOL AWESOME" but "Great, they are thinking of an online zelda game, possibly trying a different Zelda type game via not Ganon or Triforce and some voice additions in the future minus Link having a voice for obvious reasons" and the fact he cleared up alot of where each game falls within the Link "saga"

I'm pretty "meh" at this point. I honestly don't know what bonus they could offer that they haven't already put out (aside from the attrocious CD-i Zelda games, but honestly who really wants them?).
I love Zelda, don't get me wrong. But OoT with rehashed graphics isn't going to impress me. Doing something original for a bonus, on the other hand, is unlikely as they're not selling it. Which, in and of itself kind of kills the excitement for me.
The thing that would honestly excite me most would be a new 2D Zelda game for free that could be played through the Revolutions virtual console. But seeing as the news is indirectly connected to the recently announced specs, I find that unlikely.

So, it seems like the site is down... What did it say? All I get from you guys' posts is something about online and OoT with new graphics...

Wow, their website got suspended. I wonder if it was for bandwidth or because they were really going to post something they shouldn't have. Well they had a nice sized interview with Nintendo on one link that talked about the possibilities of an computer/Animated Zelda movie or Anime and the future of Zelda online.
The other link had a lot of promises about a huge newsbit that was supposedly to be made tomorrow about Twilight Princess and that it was indirectly related to the recently posted Revolution Specs.

Actually the article that said there will be big news "tomorrow" was posted on Wednsday... Making "Tomorrow" last night...
Meaning that big news was contained in the interview... Despite the interview's complete lack of big news...
The thing it was probably referring to is that Nintendo is, in a way, considering TP a Revolution launch title, since Revolution is basically an extension of the GC hardware, it can play GC games, and TP will be playable with the Revolution's controller...
Problem is that's not big news, since I'm pretty sure Miyamoto mentioned that in an older interview...
But I suppose that will be a pretty neat thing if it takes FULL advantage of Revolution's controller... Effectively giving the game two totally different ways to be played...

It's basically Nintendo's clever way of saying,
"the gamecube was a huge piece of sh*t and as a kiss-off to it we are going to make its last and possibly best game (or at least most hyped) a launch title for our new console that hopefully won't be a huge piece of sh*t.
Nintendo fans are the zaniest bunch, about 99% of them stood by the Gamecube during its lifespan, saying that it would come up on top, taking the PS2 and Xbox out of the market. They said it was great. A lot of them now are like, "meh the gamecube was pretty lame bring on the rev!"

It was obviously an empty hope. But Gamecube really was/is a great system, and I think it's sad that there are so many people unwilling to give it a try.
I really do like many of the exclusive titles available for Xbox and PS2, but when this next generation rolls around I'm just going to do what I did this time. Get Nintendo's system for sure, and compliment it with either Sony or Microsofts offering. This time around I got an Xbox; it's possible I'll make the same choice depending on the price tag Sony decides to stick to its monster.
I'm not the only one in this position from what I've seen. And if more people come around to realize that Nintendo is still offering awesome software this is going to become a more and more prominant trend because it will be fueled by the fact that their system will cost half or less than the competition while still offering an enjoyable and original play experience.

Hey Killergremlin, get that bug out of your ass, mmmk? kthxbye
I dont recall GC owners saying it would outpace the PS2 and Xbox. I'd like your evidence that says Nintendo gamers are so biased to not consider the competitors. Your being a royal jackass with a statement like that.
and you complain that Nintendo people are zany? Look at yourself and that statement you just made.

Okay, okay, okay, hypothetical scenario.
The year is 1996. Nintendo releases the N64, its new console. Over the next few years, Nintendo alienates most of its 3rd party support, and lets Sony find a ridiculously comfortable niche in a market that is ready for change. The Nintendo 64 was a turning point for Nintendo.
Sony releases the Playstation 2, Nintendo the Gamecube. Microsoft launches the Xbox. The Xbox finds a comfortable niche in a market that is still changing up to this point. Grant it, Microsoft probably wouldn’t have been able to do it without the billions of dollars they have backing them up, but it still happens.
Interesting point: Microsoft and Sony rely on third party support.
Consider this. This is the second generation with the Nintendo-Microsoft-Sony roundabout. Nintendo obviously realizes that they made mistakes in the last two console runs. Proof? They aren’t “competing” with Sony and Microsoft. They are trying to market the Revolution as something completely different.
I'm being optimistic about the Revolution, because right now it looks pretty awesome. But face it, the Gamecube sucked. I mean, I liked it, and apparently you did too. But hey. First, you have the sales. I can go dig up some charts if you want, but the PS2 outsold the Gamecube by a lot, and even though Microsoft lost money on their Xbox, the Xbox still came out on top of the Gamecube a few times. Second, Nintendo started to repair a lot of their third party ties this console run. That’s a good thing. Good for you, good for me, good for the Revolution.
I’m still weighing thought into the question I asked about 2 years into the Gamecube’s life, and it’s: where will Nintendo be in 2 console runs? The Revolution is a heck of a bold move because let’s face it; by having this sweet controller and graphics that don’t match the “competition,” are you scaring away third party support? We’ll see what happens.
But back to my original outburst, you really don’t see this as a kiss-off to the Cube? This game has been in development for ages. The way Twilight Princess is starting to shape out, it looks like the delays are coincidently mirroring the Revolution’s release. Who knows what Nintendo will do. But it’s like out with the old and in with the new! But almost more like, get the hell out we got something new.
Here’s to hoping Nintendo doesn’t pull another generation of E-Card readers and Gameboy-Gamecube connectivity that no average consumer will ever use.
Sure, I'm a zany prick. I also hang out at a few Nintendo-biased forums. And Nintendo is great, look at the Cube, it has tons of great games: a lot of them went under the radar. But, a lot of them were sequels, a lot of them were franchise titles. A lot of them didn't embark from the same cookie cutter mold that Nintendo continues to use for a lot of its titles.
The year is 2020. You'll be playing Metroid 47. And Zelda: The Battle to Defeat Ganon....again! And yeah, someone will be playing Halo 17. But this is more software than hardware, and that's a little bit of a different debate.

that's the crazy thing, by this point in time i don't know a single person with just a cube or xbox or ps2. it's crazy, but it's usually the cube/ps2 combo or the ps2/xbox combo. i feel unorthodox because all i have is a cube/xbox. obviously, the revolutions low price is a huge huge selling point in my book, because right now the 360 hasn't dazzled me. the PS3 looks cool but way too pricey.

Nintendo is trying to break the mold of franchise characters int he same game sense. They did TP the way they are because the fans wanted it. Satoru said recently he wants the next zelda to not be the standard Zelda we know and try something more different.
TP's delay is almost likely because they want to make it so that people will buy the Rev for these supposed "enhancements" beyond just hte Rev controller being supported.
Gamecube has had a decent run. Might not be the best Nintendo did but it still had its fair share of great titles. I didnt just buy the Gamecube because it was just Nintendo, but for the games that it was supposed to have. Granted, I bought it for NIntendo things but it had some decent 3rd party games also.
I think Nintendo has already learned from its mistakes of the E-Reader and GBA/GCN. But I think the idea of having Rev/DS connect without having to spend money on another cable is a fine idea. Its like PSP/PS3(sometimes PS2) connecting. As long as the incentive is enough to want to use both its fine, but having it be a requirement hurt alot of people or can. Thats why Square probably wont be convinced again to require a seperate accessory just to play a game. But if said accessory is included, it makes it better in the end.
But who knows where the console market will be 5 years from now. Things are volatile and you never know what will happen. People never expected the Xbox to do as well in the US as it has. But MS got companies to bring games to it (though some via shady ways maybe :p )
