Seriously. I got a Sony Vaio last May and it has been running fine up until the last couple months.

It lags when i try to do anything and it driving me absolutely ****ing insane.

I'm going to run a virus check in a bit but can anyone think of any way to make this thing stop running so sluggishly?

Someone mentioned updating my drivers for my video card or something? This confused me. How do I even check qhat kind of video crad I have. This is giving me a huge headache.

Please help.

Reformat your harddrive.

The number one fix. Reformatting just does a PC wonders, I back up what I need to my iPod and reformat at least once every couple months.

Question about reformatting: Does it erase all your files? Because my sister has a user account on the PC and she would be pretty upset if all her downloaded music was erased.

reformatting erases everything on the hard drive...EVERYTHING!

Even the OS.

Though you can't reformat without an XP disc, can you?

you can't reformat unless you have some sort of other media (diskette or CD) with boot instructions and commands.

unless you're running windows 98 or previous versions which come standard with DOS, then you would need a boot disk of some sort.

To reformat you stick in the Windows XP disc or any OS disc that is bootable and restart your computer. If it does not come up with a message asking you to boot from disc restart again and press the config key (usually F1 or F2 or F8) and it will come up with a menu using your arrow keys go to the boot tab and set it so your DVD/CD drive is first then save and exit (usually F10) and restart, look for qeustion "Would you like to boot from CD?" or something along thoughs lines.

(Just if you didn't know how to) :D
