The sad truth its that if this was a Miyamoto project you owuld be nuts right now and already calling it the next great game for Nintendo. I mean, it LOOKS like a Nintendo game afterall.

On the other side, if it was a Nintendo game.

Most would bash it for being overall colorful and kiddy.

I think it looks interesting, it has a cool art-style I think. And the characters look like they have personality. My first reaction was, I could like this. And with a name like Viva Piñata it sounds like it would be unique. I'm not sure why everyone is putting it down. I haven't cared much for Rare recently, but that doesn't matter.

However, it really is a kids' game; it's being made in tandem with some Saturday morning kids show of the same name. But even then, it's one of the more interesting sounding kids game I've ever seen. It sounds like a Harvest Moon/Pikmin/Sims/Animal Crossing/Pokemon all rolled into one (though I will admit I haven't played some of those games, so I could be wrong).

This Xbox 360 game is a customizable, social and spontaneous game that invites players of all ages and skills to explore an immersive world where they are challenged to create and maintain a living garden ecosystem that grows in real time. Beginning with a few basic tools, players build and take control of their environment to attract and host more than 60 species of wild piñata, utilizing hundreds of customizable elements to create their very own distinctively unique thriving paradise.

Sounds like a sleeper hit in the making to me.

Looks like another waste of a game by Rare. And I think they really half-assed the graphics considering the Xbox 360's capabilities. I mean.. look at that fur/feathers... :|

I also have the feeling that this will probably be a cancelled project. Or something similar to Pikmin. Hahah.

Banjo-Kazooie was pretty under rated, it was easily one of the best N64 games. And its sequel was pretty top notch too. I like Rare, but they develop like Blizzard, but don't deliver with the quality that Blizzard usually has. On the other hand, I have no 360, so whateva.

I am with both of you. I don't understand why everyone is hating on this.

I think it has some interesting potential and a graphic style all-its-own. The piñata style is dead on; that looks like a pretty good computer-generated piñata. BlueFire, not to pick on you, but have you never seen a piñata? The fur/feathers is the paper "feathers" or what have you that typically are covering a piñata -- ie. the game looks just like it. I feel like a Comic Book Guy explaining it like that, but I don't understand how you don't think that's a perfect/really good rendition of what piñatas look like.

When I saw the graphics, I got this cosey feeling like I had with Rayman. I liked it. When I read about the gameplay, I was sold. Well, not that I'll buy it or a 360..... heck, I won't even buy a Revolution.

This can be a real hit. This sounds 10x as interesting as Kameo.

i think it looks really good. we'll see if it develops into an interesting game, though. Rare never has a problem with graphics or ideas, its executing them as of late that hasn't been working as well.

When I think of it, I miss the 'adventure' in this game. Even Harvest Moon often has a story....
