Let me tell you, after all those years of having a ThinkPad clocked at 689 MHz, this is pretty much the sexiest thing to happen to me.

...So what should I be downloading? I don't know where to start.

Downloading? Hmm...

Flip4Mac is a must have.
DivX codec
TextWrangler - Free, less featured version of BBEdit
Mactracker - Simple little program giving you specs on every Mac ever made
Google Earth - Admit it, we all love it.

But what would I recommend buying...

Office 2004 - Best version of office MS has ever made
QuickTime Pro - $30 is worth it
QuickTime MPEG2 Component - You'll find you need it someday
BBEdit - Best text editor you'll ever see
Toast 7 - Amazing CD/DVD burning program. Simply amazing.
Yojimbo - Ever in need of a way to sort information, this is it. Try the 30 day trial, you'll fall in love.

To add to Gekko's list:

VLC. Plays every movie format under the sun and does it seemlessly. It even handles those encodes which have subtitles you can turn on and off or different audio tracks you can switch between like a DVD.

Oh, and you should take a look at the Widgets, too. Gekko will know a good website for those (I just Google for them).

I'm hoping to get a new Mac soon. Right the now the contenders are a refurbished G5 iMac or the new Intel CoreDuo Mac Mini.
