I knew posting that link on the IGN boards was a bad idea... :shakehead

It's not bad...just found weird. What'd you link to?
Well three of them are Ask Jeeves spiders. The rest of the IPs aren't saying anything.

I read quests instead of guests and I was confused. :)

Are you ready for your first quest? I cannot promise you'll survive all 43 but if you do the rewards are enormous.

I sense an internet story adventure that will begin majestically but fizzle out after five episodes with no explanation from its author.

No, we had the most users and guests on June 29th. Coincidentally, that was a day where I wasn't near a computer at all.

I said quests, not guests. You see, you fell for it too!
You know what I don't get?

At same time
Most users ever online on a day was 77 on 08-24-2004.

Come to think of it, yeah...you'd think they would be the same.

would it not be bad for some of them to sign up?

It can be an intimidating gamble. Most new-comers receive a lukewarm welcome and rarely receive full acceptance from the community before a year's time, at the least. That's why we're small. Less activity but stronger threads of friendship and brotherhood.

So which way is better? To have stronger bonds or more activity?
I prefer the smaller community. I've been to a couple of the larger message boards and it just doesn't interest me because a lot of what is said is meaningless and annoying. So I'm wasting my time sifting through that stuff to find the interesting things to read.

The good majority of them are looking at archives.
They have to be spiders.

Don't they usually get listed as spiders though rather than just guests?

The Architect changed it so now we can't tell.

So you're conspirig that there's a group out there who likes to come on all at once randomly at night and read completely random topics. Ok. :sneaky:
I don't know if Neo mentioned or not, but we haven't upgraded vB in a while. Like, a long while, because of the hacks. So there very well could be new spider technology that this vB doesn't recognize.
