While booting up Skies of Arcadia today, my Dreamcast broke. It no longer recognizes any disc I put in it. Now I begin my ritual week-long mourning of dead consoles

I extend an arm of friendship and a hand of sympathy during this time of loss. Let's take this opportunity to remember all the joyful occasions your Dreamcast gave us. I want you to tell me about the day you first bought it. Where did you go to get your Dreamcast and what were the conditions?

Well, I actually ordered this one by mail, as I had it modded so that I could play Japanese Wrestling games. I've been spending the day going through my pages and pages of translations of game manuals and FAQS.
OH SWEET CHRIST I MISS YOU DC!!!! (DC was my pet name for her)
Time to get Skies of Arcadia Legends for Gamecube!

how does this make you feel?
You need to let go of the past, and move on. The memories is what you take with you.

Empty the casing and make a cookie box of it.
Wow..... that might actually work. Where can I patent stuff? :(

Umm...open it up and repair it? Lol.
If it's just a disc read problem there's lots of ways to troubleshoot that.
I mean, you might as well open it up and have a looksie, worst case scenario it stays broken.

About a year ago I got disheartened when I was playing my Genesis to play some game I forget, and I was astonished, the sound wasnt coming through.
I thought way back, and I remembered me and my brother always had issues with the Genesis, because we used to abuse it, accidentally. We would play a game, and when I would beat him at hockey (when it happened) he'd throw the controller, and it would hit the system.
I guess all those years caught up to it. But now I dont even play the genesis. It's a sad sad day.

My Dreamcast is still going strong, although I very rarely play it.

Well, I still have it, and can play it, just the sound wont come through. :(
I have three genesis - one original, one new model, and a Megadrive!
FTW!
(But the original has pretty much bitten the dust.)
