2nd pic makes it look like it has a bit more of a shiny finish to the surface. i like that.

It might be the shot, but the difference between screens is pretty large and enticing.

The NDS Lite is from the future. 20 minutes and 27 seconds later to be precise:

The brightness difference is huge, I like that :D Makes me want the better DS (even with the no need for a smaller D Pad )

The original has that black edge around the top screen. The actual screens are the same exact distance apart.

I think he meant, there is a huge quality difference between the screens, and there is... they are the same size in reality

Be glad Nintendo listened to its fans/media the first time and redid the look of the DS *still remembers the original look and shudders*

Which Sony borrowed from Apple. I mean honestly, Apple probably copied somebody when they did it. Who copied who arguments are so moot in this world.

The simple fact is that it looks good.

It almost looks like they put a brighter lamp on the new DS... making the screen difference look bigger than it is.

If anything, the screen looks wider than normal...

Its great that they put the brightness up... the regular DS, eh, not so much...

Anybody know any release dates for this? I think I might just have to purchase a DS now.

Its out in Japan now but in very very very limited quantities (sold out before it even came out in Japan). The US release date is supposedly early May which is when the "New Super Mario Bros." comes out

So who wants to buy my DS???

I'm selling mine as well. The new ones just look too good to pass up. :D

i'd think about selling mine, but hardly seems worth it with nintendo suggestion that another redesign will come out within a year.

Canyarion

Where did they say "within a year"?

Dyne

Reggie hinted that there would be another redesign, but within the year is pure speculation. We did see a third Gameboy iteration, so it's plausible.

no they didnt say that it will happen, i think how it went was more along the lines of the interviewer asked reggie, is it possible that we'll see another redesign in a year or so, and reggies answer was given all the redesigns done to previous handhelds of thiers, that its entirely possible. thats what i meant by suggested.

its not so much that its a bad thing, it is what keeps thier handhelds going. as even he said, thats why there was all the redesigns of the GBC and GBA.

i just dont want to feel like every redesign i want to go out and trade mine in for the newer. so for now im holding onto the one i have.

as even he said, thats why there was all the redesigns of the GBC

There was only one GBC design.

1. the sentence didnt stop at GBC. ;)
2. i kinda consider the GBC itself a redisgn of the GB and GBpocket before it. they just added color. not quite the same as a redesign, but also not quite a entirely new handheld either.

Canyarion

Nono, the GBC had games that couldn't be played on the old DMG, so it's a new console. :)

The point here is that Null is stating he doesn't want to upgrade to the new DS Lite. Which is basically him saying, "I don't want a better gaming experience." It makes you wonder where his priorities are.

Null

and the point gamemaster is making here is that he actually puts priorities in a handheld gaming system... which makes you wonder... WTF?! :p :D

i dont want to upgrade to this one, then upgrade to another. i'd rather just keep this one, then upgrade to the one after the dslite. Plus, im thinkin a couple things might be fixed on the next one.

I don't think I like how the new model has the microphone placed in the hinges.

Just to show off the bright screen some more (I must say, it's pretty impressive how bright it is)
