Nintendo cut a deal with Opera, who developed a nice browser for the Nintendo DS.

I'm trying to find an English source, since I read this on the Dutch Nintendo site: Dutch (http://www.nintendo-europe.com/NOE/nl/NL/news/article.do?elementId=i8pRWGga0Cm5tZ8CjVDFhvmCs88OIywX)
Ah yes, the UK version of the same site. English (http://www.nintendo-europe.com/NOE/en/GB/news/article.do?elementId=wp20dnYnsbsdOOWpozAJ4Bg_m9wlsMLf)

Edit: link from the Opera site (http://www.opera.com/pressreleases/en/2006/02/15/).

That would be pretty snazzy, depending on how they use the stylus and the touch screen and whatnot.

If thats explained in the thing, My defence is I'm far too lazy to read it right now because I'm avoiding sleep to wait up for Canada's expected pummeling of Italy at hockey, which doesnt start for another hour or so.

Its nice to see it finally happening, though would've been nice if it was in the GBA port instead so that you can either boot the browser or a game as you please since I suspect people use their DS's for DS games moreso then GBA games :p

In the screenshot, it looks like the top screen provides a zoom in function of the lower page.

Also: virtual keyboard. :)

Meh. I don't care about this much more than the PSP's web browser. And although I do think the stylus makes for much better web browsing than the PSP's nub, there are a few drawbacks:

- Lower resolution screen

- You have to pay for it

It'll probably be a barely used novelty just like the PSP's browser. Oh well.

Edit: Come to think of it, though...do you think Nintendo is going to do anything about people downloading porn onto their DS?

The article says it's unlimited use of the internet.

If this isn't that expensive.... and I'll have a DS one day... and I need to go on a long trip or anything..... :D

The PSP web browser blows chunks and it's just a pain on it. With the touch screen on the DS it'll be way more interactive.

The DS department just keeps amazing us with innovative, never-before-seen features. Although I would prefer an official Nintendo browser.

I think they said the browser cart will be $30 :(

I actually might consider purchasing that. It would be nice to be able to browse the web from the comfort of my bed or living room or the backyard or what have you...

I used to think of that as well when I had a PSP. It's really not that nice though. Navigating the web becomes quite laborious without a keyboard or mouse. The only thing I found remotely nice was thiis website you could access on the PSP where you could sign into MSN. It's like chatting on AIM with your cell phone or one of those t-Mobile Sidekick devices.

Now we only need Skype for our DS and then we can all throw our cellphones into the volcano. Isuldurrr! Destroy it!

I remember setting up the browser for my cousin's PSP. I honestly remember saying, I hope they dont make this for DS. Looks like my hope was a loss...
