View Full Version : NC Soft can Burn in Hell

I suspended my subscription to City of Heroes a few months back, as I decided to stop playing any MMO's as they took up all of my free time (and even time that wasn't really free). The problem was, that NC Soft apparently didn't take my request seriously. My account continued to be charged and I caught it at the end of last month.

I double checked my account, and yes, it was listed as "deactivated" and even asked me if I wanted to reactivate it. I did not. I just wanted my damn money back. Checking the website, I found no way to connect to NC Soft beyond their quaint account system.

So I called Visa, who was in charge of my check card, and filed a formal complaint.

Well I finally heard back from NC Soft today, via e-mail, and they sent possibly the most insulting and unbelieveable e-mail to a disgruntled customer I've ever read. Essentially they said that I filed a false complaint, that I did not pay for services I had received (my bank credited my account), and that my account was now banned for life (not that I care). They even went so far as to include the entire "user-agreement" that they claimed I violated by not paying for an account I cancelled.

Yet they refunded my money. That was curious.

So basically they tried to steal from me, blamed me for them stealing my money, and then tried to "punish" me when I asked for them to give it back. It is absolutely outrageous that any company would treat a customer like that, especially when it was obviously NC Soft's fault. What a ****ty little nothing company they are.

I really wish i didn't delete the e-mail, as it was that crazy that I think everyone should have the opportunity to read it.

wow...... that's quite rude. Stupid company tries to squeeze a last few pennies out of you before everybody turns World of Warcraft. :(

i woulda found thier 'official' message board and posted it on there, so people who use the game and people actually working at the company coulda read it.

i never was intenrested in thier game, now i'd go no where near it, and i doubt i'll be interested in any of thier games if thats how they treat people.

NC Soft doesnt make games, they publish them. Cryptic Studios makes City of Heroes/City of Villains.

I dont know how they charged for a deactivated account (didnt even know you played it in the first place!) but they do have a Billing number if you would've checked the Support Knowledge Base. Its here ;)

It tells of various ways to contact, even the number to call them is at the bottom. You shouldve called NC Soft or emailed their support team before calling Visa since it seems to have made the matters worse.

NC Soft runs the subscriptions, so my problem is with them, not Cryptic.

1) I don't care that I made matters worse, I got my money back and they can burn in a firey Hell and for all I care Hitler can spend eternity ass-banging them with garden tools.

2) Their support system sucks, especially comapared to Blizzards. Mainly because its apparently difficult to find.

3) I don't care if I contacted Visa first instead of them. I was charged for services I cancelled... for months. Then they try and claim that I had been playing the game the whole time, yet they gave me my money back. Its their fault, not mine, and if they ever consider keeping customers who suspend their accounts for future use, they shouldn't act like complete douchebags when someone calls them on their ****-up.

I've had my character names Generic'd twice in the game..first one made sense, second one made no sense but I didnt quit. I dealt with them being dumbasses. Now, it may not be 100% relevant to what your saying but just saying the worst I've had with them so far.

I've deactivated a few times in the past since I had money issues but they didnt charge me. Dont know what happened in your case..maybe it was some crazy computer issue they didnt see

I think you should post this story of yours on that message board link Jonbo provided and then append a big, giant, "**** YOU NC SOFT" at the end.

You cant post on the message boards without an active City of Heroes/City of Villains account and that thread would be removed anyways, its against board rules to post in that manner.
