The latest edition of the UK publication, Independent on Sunday, ran an article entitled, "Cannabis: Can it really drive you mad?". The article links pot smoking to wasted afternoons "hooked to the escapist antics of PlayStation games." Where would they get an idea like that?

In the article, Roxanne Richardson, soon-to-be mother of two, contends, "I'd rather my son take a more proactive, less habitual drug like cocaine, than lock himself away and play video games. It's so lazy. At least with pills and coke you're out and about doing something." Alas, a witty remark escapes us...

Gosh, cocaine has been around for ages. I wonder what method she plans to administer it by.

I feel sorry for her son.

Hasn't she heard the term "everything in moderation". It's up to her to teach her son how long he can play games for. Even if it doesn't get through to him, she still should try!

I would just let my child play video games without any restrictive time limit. Chances are, they'll play for hours and hours and feel pretty crappy when they finally power their system down. As long as it's safe, I think personal experience is the best teacher.

Let me rephrase it in the way I understand her,

"I'd rather let my son get stoned and drugged up then playing video games."

There are people who play games like.. all the time. But that is just ridiculous... this mom has no sense of rationalism. Comparing drugs to games?

wow.

I'd rather play games for an hour or two and go do something else, then take a drug and **** myself up.

fear not people.. i think we all know whats really going to happen... her son is going to be doing both.

and thanks to the internet someday, if his mom ever complains about his drug habbit, he can simply print out he artical and show her what she said.

Oh, her son wont do both.

At least, not at the same time.

There is no way you can sit down and play a game when you're all screwed up on cocaine.

your only saying that because your not drugged up at the moment and thinking clearly.

had you been actually screwed up on drugs. you would clearly believe you could play a game.

I hate to break it to you in all honesty, but trust me...you have no will to sit still and play a god damn game when you're on cocaine. Sure, you can think you will, but the second you sit down, you'll be right back up again, fiddling with your shirt.

Its more of a "Hey lets go run to 7-11 to get some Sprite and run back and see if we can beat that time when we get back and go again and again and again and maybe we'll talk to some people on the way there and make some friends that would be so awesome wouldnt it man I really want some Sprite dont you want some Sprite? I sure do."

It's not "Man, I kicked your ass at Madden". kinda thing. :p

And wait wait wait. When the hell do I ever think clearly, in general? :p

Crack-cocaine may be better than videogames, but certainly cocaine is not.

And just where do you get off making that assumption?

KillerGremlin

Well...there's a whole article on Cocaine if you wikipedia it, but basically, the way Crack-Cocaine is made and administered isn't as healthy as Cocaine.

do you think if I began druggin' myself up with some coke every once in a while i'd lose some weight, because that'd be great.

Dyne
01-11-2006, 09:31 PM
Sure, but that would get insanely expensive.

Are there any brave GT members who would like to confess that they've experimented with drugs?

I'm sure if you decode the hidden messages in this thread you can figure it out, detective.
