The PC gaming world is a market for those with deep pockets. With latest graphic cards by ATI and Nvidia hitting up to 600 USD a pop, consoles have become a popular alternative for those with much shallower budgets. However, the main deterrents of PC gamer who have considered adopting a gaming console have always been a lack of mouse and keyboard support and a shortage of first person shooters that PC gamers can unanimously deem "acceptable". Sony has the potential to finally satisfy that previously discontented audience.......view article for more

I'd still take the PC version anyways even if it cost me some money. I want to see it at its fullest potential. PS3 may provide that but I'd still want the PC version anyways. Mods alone are worth buying PC over console

Mods are possible with HDD's now in consoles....

Would you pay $600 for a Video card possible of playing this game or $600 for PS3+HDD+couple of games

It depends. Right now if I had the cash I'd drop it on a new video card (using a 9800Pro I need to get upgraded). But in 3-6 months ill have the cash together to rebuild this computer.

I just like my PC too much to just choose between a console or something I would benefit on that I use more often ;)

you would never need to buy a $600 video card. its quite a common thought that you do. but its incorrect.

i've been able to play every newe game i wanted at its full graphics and i've never spent more then $300 on a vid card. usually i buy a $250 one every 3 or 4 years.

and this is the gen that consoles (ps3 at least so far) catch up in controls to PC FPS games. but however that it may be possible, i dont think this is the generation for mods on console fps games.

Thoes are 2 main factors the PC FPS's have always had over consoles, mods and keyboard/mouse.

as i already suspected/knew, ps3 is giving developers the option of adding keyboard/mouse so its a given that all PC developers like Epic are going to add it in thier console versions of the game, i dont think it will take long for the console only FPS developers to see the advantage and add in the support also. plus adding the support for it should be really quick and simple.

thing with mods is going to be how are people going to make them for console? For PC, the games ship with the tools and programs to make mods, and you have all the files on your HD ready to edit. this is different from console, they would have to make a way to have the tools ready to download on PC, then when you compile the mods it puts it in a format that can save on the PS3 HD and run.

we may see some mods for some games, most likly the console PC games like Unreal, but i dont think mods are gunna really take off on console games till Next gen. (after the PS3/x360)

But i am very pleased with PS3 for adding this support. i will DEFINENTLY put my PS3 on my computer desk and plug it into my widescreen LCD and play some Console FPS games with the keyboard/mouse :)

One thing I always think about with keyboard and mouse is how uncomfortable it's going to be on my consoles. I usually don't play with a table in front of me, I usually sit on a couch or a chair and hold the controller in my hand. Leaning forward and using the keyboard and mouse on the floor/coffee table keeps striking me as awkard.

it would be, but they never said you had to do that. its an option there for thoes who want the setup on FPS games.

i'd prefer mine to be on my computer desk plugged into my monitor which is probably where i'll put my PS3..

for FPS games i wouldnt want to be on the couch. unless i had a sturdy solid tray infront of me. i could stand to use a tray on my lap to play like RTS games and stuff.

thats the great thing about options, it lets everyone have thier own choice.

Talking about UT2007, do you think it'll be playable with my 128 MB Radeon 9600 Pro? I don't think I'll be able to upgrade, and playing online is much easier with a PC.

i personally think it will be, textures i think would have to be turned down quite a bit tho.

they're usually pretty good at making it work on older systems.

but we'll have to wait and see, dont really know much at all about what ut07's specs will be.

I highly doubt it... most of the demanding games of today like F.E.A.R. recommend 256MB Video card.... with a minimum of 128mb. Fast forward to when UT2007 comes out... what do you think the minimums will be at that time...

probably 2GB RAM and 256MB Video card

probably 2GB RAM and 256MB Video card

THAT. IS. IMPOSSIBLE!

Which game developer would want to sell their games to such a low user base?

minimum of 512 RAM, recommended 1gb, and a required 128mb of video ram.

i bet you it will be just that. you gotta remember, PC developers WANT these games to play on older systems, thats how they get it out. so they always include ways to tone it down to play on older stuff.
