*Fights the man*
Story time, kiddies!
So last night I was coming back from my friends house. He lives about an hour walk away from my house. He had my baseball bat at his house, so I decided, there was no better time, because we never really hang out at his house, so I wouldnt have a more opportune moment to have it.
So I started walking home at about 3:30 am this morning, bat in hand.
I'm more than halfway home, way more.
(For those of you who know, He lives on Western Drive, and I was at Blockbuster Video on Prairie.)
And all of a sudden, a female cop pulls up next to me and asks me what I'm doing.
Me: "I'm going home."
Her: "With a bat? It isnt baseball season, sir."
Me: "Well, I'm coming from my friends house, and he had my bat, so I decided to take it."
Her: "It looks suspicious that you would have a bat at quarter after 4 in the morning, sir."
Me: "I....I'm coming from my friends house...he had my bat. I felt the need to take my item back to my house, you know."
Her: "Well, next time you decide to transport a baseball bat, please do it in the daytime, sir."
Me: "Could I not be able to look suspicious and smash things with equal ease during the day? I mean, the daylight cant make some sort of protective forcefield against mailboxes and car windows. I'm sure it would look equally as suspicious, if not more, during the daytime."
Her: "Get in the car, sir."
Sure, this may look stupid on my part for talking back to a police officer. But it did get me a ride, which got me home faster.
And I was sort of offended she drew her gun on me when she was asking what was in my socks. Which turned out to be my ankles. Surprise surprise.
I mean, I wasnt even holding the bat at that point in time. She even had her gun pointed at me. It's not like its some hard run down part of the city or anything. There are no slums here, there isnt any gang violence, we dont have frequent murders.
And you might think that its part of her job to draw her gun when dealing with a "suspect".
But I sort of find it offensive that she drew her gun on a kid that wanted to go to bed so he can sleep.

you should've pulled out your candid camera and said, "smile!"
She called you sir.
I remember once some cop thought me and my friends stole a barbeque. We were out wandering around at about 1:00 and she pops out of a bush and says that somebody recently had taken a barbeque around here...

Thats why I was shocked over last night and her pulling her gun on me.
People stealing a barbeque is the worst things really get here.
But no, me concealing my ankles in socks seems to be a gun-drawable offence. :p

Maybe if you didn't have black hair and (likely) a black hoodie on at the time it would've looked less suspicious.
You have to admit, a kid walking around with a bat at 4am in the middle of winter seems like risky business to me. She had every right to come out and talk to you, and smart talking her didn't do you any good.
Don't worry, I've been pulled over and harassed for less. It always happens.

I was wearing a retro hot pink t-shirt with blue piping on it that says "Player", and a Corona hat with my hair neatly tucked underneat, actually.
So you're telling me if I wore the same thing during the middle of the day, somehow the suspicion is magically gone? :p
And its not that she talked to me that bothers me, I even told her I know it looks wrong. It's the fact she drew her gun at me for no reason. Cops here dont draw guns unless you pose a threat. How many preppy kids are threatening? :p

Carrying a bat is suspicious moreso at night because that's when 90% of mischief occurs, and if you have screwed up ankles and it looks like there's a knife in there, then she points her gun to protect herself. It's part of their training.
Corona Hat? loser. :D

Well, my pants were covering my legs. But my socks were pulled up. It was cold. So I understand that.
But I dont have wierd ankles or anything, haha.
It was just the whole gun pulling thing that made me get lippy and annoyed.
And for the record, I dislike Corona. But the hat was 20 dollars at Bootlegger.
Yes, Bootlegger.

Yeah, right
I would honestly be more afraid of someone suspicious carrying a bat during the day. Usually they aren't afraid to get seen, so they will be even more vicous.
And why exactly about the ankles, were you going to show her that you didn't have anything there?

nice story...i liked it! we should have more of these! :p
and she drew the gun because a baseball bat is considered a weapon outside of the playing field, she drew the weapon to protect herself just in case.

Our friend Andrew was walking home a bit drunk from a party one night, down a trail. Suddenly, a cop comes literally out of nowhere, shines a bright light in his face and starts questioning everything and then why he was so hesitant answering the questions. Our friend retorted, "wouldn't you be ****ting your pants if a cop came up to you in the middle of nowhere asking you stupid questions, shining a light right in your face?"
The cop said "Have a good night."
Cops around here are dumb.
Also, me and Andrew were walking home from our friend Brian's house, and these cops pull right over the lane in an intersection on to the curb to start questioning us just because we happened to stop to talk before we parted ways. YES, IF I'M GOING TO DEAL DRUGS, I'LL DO IT WIDE OPEN UNDER A STREET LIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION. You cops think I'm dumb? Jesus.

I was out and about with my friends Lauren nd Jen (who happens to be Andrew's sister) and we ended up at some little school near my highschool where some of their friends were.
As soon as we showed up, the cops arrived. They joked around telling everyone to drop their beers, looked in a few girls' purses for drugs, and whatnot. One kid who had pot on him got real scared and threw a bag with three joints in it on the ground. One of the cops found it and said "Whoa, somebody's droppin' the ganj", and then promptly put the bag in his pocket and told us all to get lost.
Good times.

Me and my buddy Phil were high one time in a park, and a cop came out of nowhere and was questioning us about hearing a girl screaming in the park. We told him that we didn't hear anything, and he let us be.
Little did he know that we picked up a hooker and tag teamed her, beat her up, then left her stranded in the park.

no offense buddy, but that was incredibly stupid to talk back to the police officer. i dont care if you felt 'wrongfully accused'...you just DONT do that kinda crap with a cop. in crappier areas it wouldnt be uncommon for them to cuff your ass and haul you in for something like that.
yeahyeah, you didnt do anything illegal...but beig a smartass to a police officer is not cool

Yea, I mean seirously...that was just stupid to talk back like that. Youve gotta learn when to just cut your losses and give it up.

I never said it was smart to talk back to her, did I?
And let me point a gun in your face, and I'll see how cheer and calm and happy you are that she is backhandedly saying you're some sort of murderer.

I may not be cheer and chipper when I have a gun in my face but at that point I definently wouldn't giver her any sass.

Why couldn't you have just spent the night there and walked home the next morning around 7:00? Or waited until morning to try to find a ride? It's naturally suspicious to find a kid walking with a bat at that time of hour.

You're suppose to wear a baggy sweatshirt and carry the bat inside the sleeve...at least that was my instinct when I was in a similar situation...but was sorta looking for this gang that ruffed up my friend instead of transporting the bat home.......but no cops stopped me. ;)

No, she was just trying to protect the neighbourhood that she is paid to look after. You didn't have anything to hide, so why do you care so much? What if the night before she pulled over somebody with a baseball batt and he had 10 grams of cocaine in his socks?
I'm pretty sure the cop knew more about the situation than you did.

But she didnt even make me pull my socks down, I could have well been hiding cocaine in them. She didnt search me at all.
And she wasnt just in one neighbourhood, she was following me for more than half the walk.
The walk spanned like, 15 neighbourhoods. :p
And I care so much because I didnt have anything to hide. Its not like this will keep me up at night or anything. I just dont much like having a gun pointed at me. :p

If a gun was pointed at me, i might **** my pants.
A 20 year old kid in a few towns over was shot in the head and killed by a cop while in custody for being drunk outside of a hockey game.
Of course, no witnesses.

It wasnt a forceful "I'm above the law" sort of thing, but it was cautious.
Maybe preppy kids killed her family, I dont know.
And Darren, I remember hearing about that. That was a few months ago, or something. And the cop who shot him was a rookie or something who apparently paniced, and of course, it was in the part where there were no cameras. Surprise surprise.

ah, cops, I can't remember the last time a cop actually helped my with anything, breakins, breakdowns, cops are worthless when it comes to being nice and helping. IMO and with my experience of cops.

I would **** my pants if some random person pulled a gun on me, but not if a cop pulled a gun on me.
