View Full Version : Post count purging?

I've noticed I swear I lost 200 or so posts (count wise at least) and Deathshand...well, he doesnt show the fact he was/is the post count king for nearly all eternity (down to 3k or so now :eyes: )
Did something happen we missed?

Yeah, I was in the 11,000 range. Definitley going to need that fixed soon.

I imagine that this is an after effect of the changes we recently made to the data storage. I'll see if we can't find out what happened.

Gm is below 10k.
Oh noes!
Someone may have re-indexed the post counts. That would purge your post count contribution from Nintendose as well as our previous server.
If so I don't believe this action can be undone, not without manually editing everyone's post count.
If that's true I shouldn't have lost any posts.
Edit: Fancy that.
Well it was either Bond who did it, or it was the system that reindexed automatically.
P.S. Deathshand had way too many posts anyways.
Jonbo298
11-26-2005, 01:36 PM
He may have but he had to keep the title :p
Hopefully whatever happened gets fixed. Probably was a computer being a little too happy or whatever
I'm thinking this was probably my mistake. I do maintenance every other week, updating the search index, rebuilding forum and thread information, etc. One of the options is to update post counts, and I must have accidently done that one. I don't really think it's an extremely huge deal, but if some of you do I supose we could manually adjust your post counts.

I would really really like Angrist (http://www.gametavern.net/forums/member.php?u=557) to have 5000 posts again. It was such a nice round post count.
And while you're at it, do ~Vin~ (http://www.gametavern.net/forums/member.php?u=439)s too. From 20 to 5000. :)

The funny thing is if I hadn't seen this thread, I wouldn't have known anything had happened to my post count. What is it now anyway?
Edit: Oh. I think I had over four thousand before then. Oh well. Now I have about a third as many posts as Deathshand.

I guess I should be lucky I only lost 200 or so :p Then again, being closer to 7000 just felt like an accomplishment to push for but not post "spam".

Interesting...I didn't lose a great deal, but I was over 4000 by now...It'll just take me another year or more to get back there.
Hmm, I was never too intent on my post count once I past a thousand...and I stopped looking at other peoples post count after we got rid of the Rep System.

Actually the whole "post count purge" is all a part of the Staff's complex and meticulously planned out conspiracy against Gamemaster, which we spend all hours laying out in a cocophany of evil laughter. His Che Gueverra-like power of the people and radical ideas of internet freedom can no longer be tolerated.

I'm not speaking against you! I'm exalting your praises, oh magnificent one. Your benevolent leadership is sorely needed in this totalitarian regime.
If "Neo" is the name of the voice in your head, then I truly do believe you think you'll be a mod again.

Do you want to split a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue Label with me some day? I've always wanted to have some whiskey that I spent more than $17 a handle on...
Plus, Bond, I think someone fixed the post counts...Mine is back to normal at least.

While most manuscripts of the Bible read six-hundred-sixty-six or 666 for the Number of the Beast in Revelation 13:18, some early manuscripts contain 616 instead. Codex Ephraemi Rescriptus (5th century) and Papyrus 115 (3rd or 4th century). Irenaeus knew about the reading 616, but according to Metzger, Bruce M. (1971). A Textual Commentary on the Greek New Testament, New York: United Bible Societies. ISBN 3-438-06010-8., p. 751, Irenaeus "says that 666 'is found in all good and ancient copies,' and is 'attested by those who had themselves seen John face to face.'" The minuscule manuscript 2344 (11th century) identifies the Number of the Beast as 665.
In May 2005 it was reported that scholars at Oxford University using advanced imaging techniques had been able to read previously illegible portions of an early (third century) version of the Book of Revelation, part of its Oxyrhynchus collection of papyri. The fragment gives the Number of the Beast as 616. Scholars now believe the number in question has very little to do with the devil. It was actually a complicated numerical riddle in Greek, meant to represent someone's name. "It's a number puzzle — the majority opinion seems to be that it refers to [the Roman emperor] Nero." Alternative spellings of his name, Neron and Nero, can explain the presence of both 666 and 616 in the records, since dropping the last 'n' changes its numerical value from 666 to 616 ('n' representing 50).
Well if anyone has seen the movie Caligula, I would rather be buddies with the devil than Nero.
