Depending on how fantabulous Revolution is I might wait a day depending on the day.

A few hours alone. A day in the company of friends.

A day is the most for me unless its already got a line long enough 2 days beforehand (long meaning over 10 people).
But overall, a day at the most. Might do it for PS3 since everyone will clamor for it when "official" preorders begin

I don't buy systems at launch. I usually wait for them to come down in price. Also, it's better once people have figured out the bugs as many launch consoles are ridden with problems.

I pre-order online and have it delivered to my door.... I guess the only waiting on-line I'd be doing is waiting for the order to process on the website.. ONLINE.

I don't think I've ever gotten a system on launch day... And I've never boughten one myself...
So I don't know... If I had the money and pre-ordered, I'd probably wait a few hours, if I needed...

I also never bought a system on launch day. Usually not until its been out for about half a year. But it is fun waiting outside in the cold with friends ...getting a system at the end of the wait is just a bonus.
I'd wait for a matter of hours. Anything more becomes logistically problematic. I think it makes you appreciate obtaining the console that much more if you do brave the lines for it.
Nothing more than a few hours.
I definitely wouldn't want to see another Halo 2 at my mall. Like, a million in line for preorders, but millions of copies over at Future Shop just sitting there, and merchandise for the first 1000 who buy it!
I even went over to the line at EB and started talking loudly about how ridiculous this situation was, but nobody budged.
People are such sheep.
