... I saw the first two of what would later become a long line of gamers pitched outside my local Target eagerly awaiting Xbox 360. They both had their lawn chairs and one guy had his laptop. I was walking around town and it was pretty cold. 7:30 seems a bit early though. I mean, I didn't get to Target until 3 A.M. for the Gamecube and I had no trouble getting one. When I walked out of the store later, there were about 5-10 more people assuming their spot in the developing line of fans. Even though I'm not taking part, it left me with a good feeling. A feeling of reminiscence as I reflect on my Gamecube sit-out in that very same store. Regardless of what system(s) you're partial to, waiting the night/early morning before outside a store for the release of your next generation system is a special event we all have in common. Whether you camp it out with a friend or two or endure the cold night alone, eventually making friends with the person before and ahead of you. If any of you folks here are camping out for an Xbox 360, good luck and have fun. Try to savor the experience too, as you won't have another one for about 4-5 years.

The radio station I listen to is doing that at the Future Shop at Coquitlam Centre too. They said they have tons of people there, and also DJ's, and game stations and various things.

And they said they're giving them away periodically throughout the night, before its actual release too.

Because getting it 3 hours early is apparently such a big deal! :p

Calling in sick is probably half the fun for those who have educational or career related obligations. I know it would be for me.

I plan to take vacation days when PS3 and Revolution are released.

I remember camping out fot Eagles playoff tickets a few years ago. There were over 10,000 people in that line and it was a festival atmosphere. It was cold, people chopped down trees to try and make fires and people working at the truck depots were throwing old wooden palates over fences for people to burn. Smart business people went out and bought cheesestaeks and sold them for $10 a piece to all those who waited and people eagerly paid for them. A Giants fan drove by and gave us the finger and he was rewarded by an endless barrage of beer cans and other garbage as he pulled away, tires squealing. I saw friends I hadn't seen in years and we talked, played Madden on a portable playstation and had a great time until well passed dawn the next day.

In the end we neve got tickets as there were under 2,000 available, but we knew that was going to happen, and that wasn't the point. It was about shared experience and a sense of community. It was a time I'll never forget and wouldn't ever give up.

Waiting in line for SARS stock tickets was amazing. I'd say there was about 100 of us, maybe less. Mostly teens. I met a cool girl, and just chilled out with random people... Tossed the football around, hell even wrestled, haha. Great night.

I don't think I would ever wait in line for a video game system... But who knows. I'm sure all those guys had an amazing time!

Oh man, I am so tired, you have no idea. Yesterday morning, we got in line at 9:00am, we stayed at walmart until 1:00 am last night. We got our xbox 360's. Immediately afterwords, we went to Best Buy where the line was 40 or so people long for the 9:00am opening this morning (poor bastards are still there in line) It must have been below freezing last night. I put the top down on my convertable and did donuts in the parking lot right in front of them, while their shivering little bodies looks on in disgust as we held up and xbox 360. We got a lot of middle fingers but it was fun.

Then we drove to Circuit city, and comp USA doing the same thing.

The nice thing is, in my line, about 10 people of the 30 brought their DS, and although none of them had Mario Kart, we all played mario kart battle for hours and hours.

Got home, played some perfect dark... was unimpressed by the graphical differences between xbox 360 and xbox... went to bed.

I've heard reports that there are too many core systems and not enough of the premiums, at least not for those who didn't preorder. I'm thinking about going by a best buy and checking it out on my lunch break, but I'm afraid if I do I'll end up buying one heh.

Well Crash Perfect Dark Zero is garbage from what I've seen, and especially in the commercials. I was impressed by the graphics and game play of this one war game, I can't recall the name cuz I was playing it at my local Gamestop. Graphics were good, particle elements amazing, and the blood splatter was top notch.

I wouldn't count PDZ as an ice breaker for Xbox 360 owners. I'm ACTUALLY thinking of getting this....

just got back from bestbuy picking up some DVD's.

3 xbox's left at thier special little table setup. Almost same thing as when ps2 came out.

i'd never wait out in line for something, especially when i could just walk in and get it.

i was VERY tempted to pick one up and sell it on ebay tho... some of the prices are well over $1000, one just ended this morning the Winning bid... $2,550

I could probably waltz into town and buy one. Canada doesn't have the same hype as the USA over this system, or so it seems. Not my town, at least.

Buuuuut.... I don't want one. At least, not with the money I'd have to spend for it. I'd rather get a PS2/Regular xbox.

What the hell? Why is there a huge ****ing cinder block in my Xbox360 box? And there's like a wire or something sticking out of it...? The sh*t, I'm suppose to plug this giant bastard into the wall?! ...And it's getting hot? Like ****ing BOILIING hot?! Don't cinder blocks normally stay cool?

BAH, this thing is going back to the office. I must've got some weird ass "Home Construction Bundle". God damn Microsoft.

GameSpot gave it a 9.0, Team Xbox gave it an 8.8, and Talk Xbox gave it a 9.7.

Well I think it's garbage from what i've seen... (meaning) ... from the screenshots/commercials and overall graphical element...

Not necessarily what others may think or even those sites you mentioned.

All I know is there are so much better games out there for Xbox 360... PGR3 also looked sick.

Or actually telling your boss about taking a day off to buy the console would be pretty fun too..........

I've done that. The midnight launch of the gamecube. I needed the following day off due to tiredness.

Pretty sure you're referring to the Call of Duty 2 demo. I thought the polygon and particle work was really good but man the textures are just aweful. I saw better on the N64, and we all know how blurred the N64's textures were.

I wouldn't be surprised if PDZ didn't look that much like a next gen title, as it was originally intended to be on the Xbox.

Call of Duty 2 looks incredible, though. Madden looks a million times better also. Finally EA put some effort into the graphical end of their football franchise.

I tried to check the 360 out today but i was kind of in a hurry and some old guy was playing it. Of course, they didn't have any in stock.

How loud is the console compared to the original Xbox? I've heard that it's a noisy bugger. It may depend on where the console was manufactured and which brand of fan is in your particular console.

i hear the disk spinning when I turn it on... sounds like an airplane engine... vvvvvvvvVVVVVVVVVVVAAAAAAAAAAAA

but after that you can't hear anything.... not loud, not distracting in anyway

PS1 is much louder
