Welcome to The Contender, the newest GameTavern contest. Participants will battle one another in an elimination-style contest within the arcade. The winner will receive 5,000 doubloons and a nice pat on the shoulder.

OFFICIAL RULES

Each round will involve two participants battling in a game chosen randomly from the following list:

1) Alien Attack
2) Duck Hunt
3) Pacman
4) Plops
5) Snake
6) Snipers
7) Super Dance
8) Tonti

For example if Snake is chosen for the first round then each participant will challenge another in Snake for the highest score. The high scorer moves on to the next round.

Your placement within the tournament bracket will be determined by seeding. Seeding is determined by your current position in the arcade high scores list for the above games. Only your highest rankings will be considered. For example, if you have the top 3 scores in Tonti, you will only be given credit for the top one score. Therefore you have nothing to gain by trying to push everyone out of the top scores list. Your seeding score will be determined by your average ranking for each of the 8 games. You will have approximately one week to play each of these games in an attempt to better your seeding.

Please reply to this thread if you are interested in participating. 16 people will be chosen randomly from those who sign up. However if at least 32 total people sign up then I will expand the field to 32.

One seeding is determined and the matches set, the games will take place when one participant issues a challenge to the other. It does not matter who challenges who first. If the challenge is not completed within 3 days then the match is forfit. I strongly suggest practicing the game before accepting a challenge. Once you accept and play the game you will have no 2nd chance. Of course you should already have played these games frequently in an attempt to gain seeding so this should not be a problem.

Cheating/exploiting game bugs will not be allowed. I've tried to select games that don't have any known issues.

Please sign up now if you are interested. I'll give you all about a week to practice the games and gain high scores.

Which comment best sums up the outcome:

"A good time was had by all."

or

"Wow, that sure was a blast."

I think it's safe to say it was over before it began. Thank you, goodbye now.
