EGM's Top Ten Game Characters

Well as its on-going countdown to EGM 200th issue.. I think.. they have been doing top 10s every month for a while. This month its game characters...

I take issue with some of these choices but eh.

Best Game: Tomber Raider 2 (PS1)
Most Embarassing Moment: The last 20 or so Tomb Raider Games.

Pikachu
Best Game: Pokémon Gold/Silver (GBC)
Most Embarassing Moment: Inducing seizures in Japanese schoolchildren during an episode of the TV show. Naughty!

Master Chief
Best Game: Halo 2 (XB)
Most Embarassing Moment: We bet the Chief got a little red under the helmet when he saw a Microsoft exec sporting a tattoo of the Halo 2 release date.

Cloud Strife
Best Game: Final Fantasy VII (PS1)
Most Embarassing Moment: Dressing up in drag in FFVII.

Pac-Man
Best Game: Pac-Man (Arcade)
Most Embarassing Moment: The Mario Party-esque Pac-Man Fever (PS2/GC).

Sonic the Hedgehog
Best Game: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis)
Most Embarassing Moment: The voice of Sonic in the cartoon series was done by none other than Jaleel White, who may know as the annoying Steve Urkel from the TV's Family Matters.

Samus Aran
Best Game: Super Metroid (SNES)
Most Embarassing Moment: Could it be the upcoming Metroid movie?

Solid Snake
Best Game: Metal Gear Solid (PS1)
Most Embarassing Moment: Solid Snake skateboarding his way around Big Shell in the PS2 version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance.

7. Cloud Strife <--- overrated. Further lame factors include spiky blonde hair, dark clothing, and an oversized blade.

4. Samus <--- another feminist's poster child. Has not made a great enough impact to be on list.

3. Solid Snake <--- "the man who makes the impossible possible". Too contrived.

I agree with Solid Snake being on there, maybe not so high though.

oh hell yeah, Dante definitely should be on there, if only GTA had 1 main character, then that guy should be on there.

Mmm....I think the list is fairly accurate. I don't like Dante being on there because the character doesn't have much depth yet. The games are flashy and exciting but also short and lacking in substance. Master Chief has only been in two games however they were system-defining games and his character has been featured in the somewhat popular novels.

I don't think Dante should be on the Top 10, but the up and comers suits him well in my opinion...but as I said, I love him.

And I haven't played either of the Halo games through or read the books. But should the character in the books count towards this list? Are they counting the other characters movie appearances?
