Remember in Star Trek IV when they go back in time and Scotty gives the glassmaker the formula to make "transparent aluminum" so they can make a tank for the whales? Well here it is in real life:

Officials hope the product will prove even more useful when considering more severe threats, such as explosives.

Forget explosives and severe threats. They say this stuff is scratch resistant. This is any gamer's answer to handheld screens and iPods!

no, it says:

It is virtually scratch-resistant.

what the heck does that mean, shouldn't it be "virtually scratch proof"

my projection tv IS scratch resistant, but not scratch proof

virtually scratch resistant, is that just normal, or on the edge of being scratch resistant, ... I don't get it.

Well, fire a round of bullets at it and there might be some scratches.

Scratch Resistant -- It will repel scratches under normal circumstances but a heavy amount of force could sustain a scratch

Scratch Proof - It is totally impervious to any type of scratch.

Just read an article about the difference between Water Resistant and Water Proof material.... and just switched it out for SCRATCH.

yeah, but to brag about ALMOST being repel scratches under normal circumstances .... isn't good, cause it means you still can't repel them under normal circumstances.

meh, i'm still waiting on the lightsabre :).....but still, transparent aluminum is insane, and one day i think gamemaster might actually be right, i can see that being used in heavily utilized accessories w/ glass.

Did You Know...

... that a GameTavern member once got expelled when a respected teacher discovered the member had asked for help here?
