Gunshots or explosions in 4/5 pictures. I hope they're not relying on cool effects to carry this game to success.

that's precisely what they're doing.

it's probably true...

But mommy always told me that Perfect Dark was somewhat of a stealth action game... :<

Why are they even trying. As far as I'm concerned, that could be on the original Xbox.

Show me modelling like NBA 2K6 and then maybe I'll be impressed.

IGN has posted a profile of Joanna Dark (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/654/654444p1.html). I thought it was pretty amusing.

Here's a slightly edited version for your enjoyment:

Joanna Dark is an eager bounty hunter, a raw talent with laser-sharp reflexes, a reckless streak a mile wide, and a flair for sniffing out trouble(gets into trouble a lot, hey?). Her father, Jack, still can't help thinking of her as 'daddy's little girl' and she often bristles at his overprotective tendencies (a rebellious teenage girl. I think I've seen one or two of those once somewhere).

Joanna is capable of deep, destructive anger, and often lacks the discipline to keep her temper in check, which leads her to undertake reckless, ill-advised actions (you don't say). Despite this, she is also extremely gifted and adaptable, and this frequently gets her out of dangerous situations.

...

Trained by Jack but untested outside of HoloMan-VR, Jo is desperate to demonstrate her talents, as much to herself as to her father (yes, fly the nest little birdie! Just be sure your recklessness doesn't get your father killed, thus teaching you that with great power comes great potential to have people close to you needlessly die).

...

Joanna Dark was born in Atlanta, Ga. while her parents were on holiday. The family moved to England shortly afterwards (which explains her accent! Uhh....wait...).

...

Jo also enjoys a variety of adventure sports - rock-climbing, Le Parkour (free running), dirt-biking and grav boarding (a mixture of surfing, skateboarding and skitching). As a result Jo has managed to have more than her fair share of bone-shattering accidents. As Jo likes to say, 'What's life without a little excitement?' (she's EXTREME, yo! )

Jo's experiences with big business have lead her to be naturally distrustful of men in suits (yeah, I hear she likes to party, and stuffy old men are a big turnoff. Are you sure we haven't met before, Joanna?). 'What do I dislike? The Hypercorporations. I mean, sure there are some good guys out there, the ones that face up to their responsibilities, but in my line of work you get to see how lethal some of these companies can be. Not every cost of modern business shows up on the balance sheet. Those guys are interested in one thing, the bottom line. The law says they have to deliver for the shareholders, and if someone else gets their head stamped on in the chase for profits, well, that's business.' (have we mentioned yet that Joanna is a character belonging to Microsoft?)

Joanna is a naturally skilled marksman, a lethal fighter and a mean pilot and driver (as well as dirt biker, snowboarder, free-runner...probably also knows how to sky dive, drive a submarine, windsurf and so on. After all, she's EXTREME, yo! )

Low-res textures, only 30fps (25 right now, but 30 promised). This has GC port written all over it.

30 promised? Are you kidding me?

I was assuming 60 up until now. I am now disgusted.

GC port? Now that I think about it; I'd reckon if they just added detail to Jo, and put high-res bumpmaps in only key areas...

You may be on to something there, Gekko...

But now I know why I like Joanna so much- she was born in the ATL!!!:D

Wasn't Halo also 30 fps? IGN thought that it was some 30-40 fps in their review. Perfect Dark may not blow us away, but I don't think its framerate is necessarily horrible (just as long as it doesn't get jerky).

I remember them promising 60 FPS for everything. If they can't get today's games running on 60 FPS they're obviously not ready for next gen hardware. Or they need to spend a lot more time on it.

Metroid Prime was 60 FPS. That game was released years ago now. Why can't PD0 be?

Some Dreamcast games ran at 60FPS as well...

But of course everyone knows that not all DC, PS2, GC, and Xbox games ran at 60FPS...

I could understand a GRAPHICALLY INTENSE!!1 game running at 30FPS... But PD:0?

Hahah, heck, even PSX games ran at 60 FPS. Really basic modelling, but it was 60 FPS.

I blame Rare. That's the proper thing to do.
