All right, so my friend randomly IMed me with a link, so his IM window popped up, and my mouse happened to be at the spot of the link, and I clicked accidentally and it installed this annoying little file. It was giving me all of these popups, and whenever I was on AIM I would be sending the same message to people on my buddy list. Basically I thought I got rid of it when I did a System Restore. The file was called majic05 if anyone is interesting. It said it was MS-DOS based, and that it planted itself in the System32 file as well. I can't really find anything else about it, but my friend who also got an IM from the same person had the same thing happened, and it really screwed up his computer. My computer is fine except for when I use AIM. The same problem happens. Does anyone know anything about this?

I know this may sound stupid, because, lets face it, its coming from me...but have you uninstalled AIM, then re-installed it?

Yes, I have. I just upgraded to the new one, but whenever I've used the newest version of AIM I haven't been able to directly connect to anyone. That's why I didn't want the newest version..but whatever, I hope it doesn't keep doing this ****. So I'll just update if I'm still having problems.
P.S. Nice collection of trophies Typhoid. I haven't come to Gametavern very much because I've had a busy summer and I just started college at the University of Pittsburgh. I know that Neo reset the scores, so nice job collecting all of those trophies!

Haha, thanks...I really have nobody to compete against. I'll lose most of them within a week or so.
And doing a system restore doesnt always get rid of the problem, because Im sure what happened is a virus latched on to a program, or was already on your computer to the time when you did the restore.
Just scan the **** out of your computer is all I can really say, or if you're skilled, go into the registry. But I wouldnt touch that.

It's still screwing with my AIM, but I'm not sending that message to anyone. Basically, after about five minutes of being on AIM, I'm talking to someone, and the IM window disappears, then I open it back up, type something for two seconds, and it disappears again. I don't know what I should do. I'll scan again..

Thanks GameMaster. I believe that it worked. I haven't been on AIM for a long enough time yet to see if it has, but it did say that it deleted some spyware and cleaned out my aim. Thanks!
