War is not something to joke about. It is a very serious thing.

I don't know. Some of those crossed the line for me. War and the death of innocent civilians just isn't really very funny. Most of the others were fairly predictable. The only one that I found humorous was the Bill Clinton one, but even that didn't make me smile or anything.

Then again, I almost never curse.

I am the same way Xantar. However, there have been situations with certain people where I feel the best way to express myself would be to use one of those words. However, I still don't. I often think it though.

Those words are however becoming so acceptable in our culture that they are beginning to become more ingrained in my mind and it is starting to become difficult to not say them and I can see it becoming even more of a problem for me in the future as I begin to hear the words more and more often.

What do you think of this? What do you guys feel are "appropriate" situations? Are these words becoming such a concrete part of our culture that in the future it will be difficult to avoid using them? Already some television and radio shows allow the use of a** whereas before I would never hear that word on TV. What are your opinions?

Hey, since when was it unacceptable to use the word ****? I use it all the time, and hardly anyone cares any more. The first time I uttered it was at the tender age of 11 in the middle of a deathly quiet maths exam. That was fun.

But then I've never really seen why people get so agitated about "swear" words anyway. They're just words. Which is more offensive? "**** off man, I got work to do tonight" or "You know, you really are the most moronic idiots it's been your families fortune ever to spit out of the shallow end of it's gene puddle"?

Words like **** and **** are just great for being expressive with. I knew this one girl who ****ed this **** and her mum told her she was a ****ing **** and that she'd probably break her ****ing ******, but the donkey didn't seem to mind.

The original "****" list was culled from the humour pages at www.textfiles.com ages back, and resurfaces every now and again with new variations. But I've still never found jokes about nuclear death to be that hilarity invoking really.

I'm not offended by curse words. I just object to them as a writer and sometime public speaker. Most of them are so overused by now that they have lost meaning, and one of the cardinal rules of writing is not to use words that have lost their meaning. Curse words may work to express a strong, very unspecific emotion, but I can almost always think of a better thing to say.

I don't mind cursing, it's just when people swear like idiots, that I don't like. For instance using a sentence with **** in it as every second or third word.

"**** dude, so I ****ing was going down the ****ing road and **** there was this ****ing girl and she was with this ****ing stupid ****head. So I was ****ing all like. **** you, you ****ing ****er."

Congratulations you can swear you stupid ****!

j/k

:D

To me people that talk like that, sound like complete morons.
