I know I haven't posted about this before, but I have to talk about it now. My serious lady-friend's father went in for a heart transplant today.
She called me at about 6 AM to let me know and generally freak out. Well a quick shower and a fill-up later and I was on the road to Penn Hospital. I got there about 9 AM (traffic sucked) and proceeded to wait for 9 hours while he was operated on while attempting to keep her on an even keel. We get paged and head up to whatever level you meet with the doctor and proceed to wait another hour for him to get his goddamn act together. You would think that a pager would mean a sense of urgency... apparently NOT.
Anyway, the operation was a success and I have a very relieved little woman on my hands, instead of the high-strung insane woman I've been dealing with for the last 2 months or so. I'm home now and exhausted. Who would think that sitting and waiting could be so tiring?
