We knew it was going to happen, but today it did. Peter Jennings of ABC has died of lung cancer. (because of smoking) ....

Rest in peace dude!

Man, I was scared. For a split second I thought it was Ken Jennings that died.

I knew he had lung cancer but I didnt think he would die so soon @_@

RIP even though smokers get little sympathy from me. You made the choice, you pay for it.

Try Jeopardy.

He made like...a hojillion dollars playing it.

He was like a robot.

A mormon robot.

From the future.

From the future.

*nod*... longest running Jeopardy champion...

Finally defeated by a guy who lost the very next day... *shakes head in dissapointment*

I think they payed him to lose.

I remember I was at Dylans, and the questions he was getting wrong, we're the sort of things I would know.

And think about it, after that long, viewers stopped watching, some probably just assumed he was going to win time after time. So if they pay him more to take a dive, the viewers flood (wait..this is Jeopardy...the viewers trickle) back to watch it.

And thus the Future mormon robot cycle of life is complete.

Peter Jennings was parodied in Team America: World Police. The creators of that movie should feel ashamed of themselves right about now. Oh well, not even a story of an overzealous gang of anti-terrorist "global peace" enforcers known as Team America can taint Peter's numerous achievements including:

• 14 National Emmys
• 2 George Peabody Awards
• Several Overseas Press Club Awards
• Several Alfred du Pont Columbia University Awards for Journalism
• Edward R. Murrow Lifetime Achievement Award from Washington State University, 2004

Fun Fact #37: Did you know that Peter Jennings was a Canandian who didn't attain full American citizenship until 2003?

GM, why should they be ashamed? How were they do know he would die this soon? He didnt even reveal he had lung cancer until long after the movie was out ON DVD

Who the **** cares about ****ing Ken Jennings, seriously.

I really liked Peter Jenning's coverage of September 11th, I thought he did a very good job handling the situation.

I do! Plus I never watch ABC news.

I don't appreciate your attitude.

So within the space of about a year, all three network newscasters are gone. Not that it matters hugely to me because I get all my news from blogs and The Daily Show.

RIP even though smokers get little sympathy from me. You made the choice, you pay for it.

You know, your moral righteousness is kind of funny. When Peter Jennings was young, everybody smoked and studies hadn't conclusively linked smoking to all the horrible things we know about today. Moreover, Jennings quit smoking 20 years ago.

And started again after 9/11 :>

Ya, I saw this on the news this morning. I really did like how he covered the terror attacks on September 11. Quite the professional.

RIP.

And started again after 9/11 :>

And then quickly stopped again. It was a brief relapse (or so I read), and Jennings called himself "weak" for it. Of course, starting again after 9/11 by itself isn't enough to get lung cancer. His smoking before had already sealed it for him.
