I'm looking for a really good sound card to record my own music with.
I'm a novice when it comes to this kind of stuff, so I need some help. What I want it to be able to do is to be able to hook an electric guitar, mic, electric drumset, etc, etc, and for the sound card to be able to record the music and put it on the computer directly.
For example, lets say I have my electric guitar hooked up to the sound card, and I play a chord or an entire song. I would like for the card to read that, and ONLY that, meaning that it doesn't pick up any background noises.
I'm not sure what kind of ports the sound card needs to have to be able to do this.
I'm willing to pay around 200 dollars or less for a decent sound card. If anyone knows anything about what I'm looking for the help would be appreciated. And while you're at it does anyone know of any good music editing software? Nothing too professional...I don't want to spend months learning to use it, I just want something simple that gets the job done.
