A brilliant UK student who took his girlfriend on a $70,000 holiday hours after bludgeoning and stabbing his parents to death has been jailed for life.
Brian Blackwell, 18, who wanted to become a surgeon, launched a frenzied attack on his father, Sydney, 71, and mother, Jacqueline, 60, with a claw hammer and carving knife.
Mr Blackwell was stabbed more than 30 times and his wife 20.
Blackwell then washed their blood from his face and hands, finished packing his suitcases and calmly took a taxi to the home of his girlfriend, Amal Saba.
Miss Saba, also 18, went to America and the Caribbean with him, oblivious of the carnage. She was also unaware that, like the moors murderer Ian Brady, he was suffering from narcissistic personality disorder, a seemingly incurable condition that made him a compulsive liar and an explosive threat to those closest to him.
