My rant:

****ing Adelphia mother****ers are trying to charge be $98 for a ****ing cable modem I supposedly didn't return? **** those mother****ers! I was ****ing deploying the next day and they want to put it on me to drive the cable modem to their ****ing offices 45 minutes away to return the requipment? **** that! They said I could leave it in my ****ing room and they would come by to grab it. Well the dumb ****s did grab it, and all was good. The, I signed up with Adelphia again now that I'm back from my ****ing deployment, even though they have below-air quality picture and slow as all **** broadband internet, but they have a ****ing monopoly out here so I have no other ****ing choice but to sign up with these ****s. Anyway, stupid ****ers just charged me $98.24 on my last bill. What the ****? I call the pricks up, and after being transferred to the right office after the 5th call (stupid ****ers can't just give me the number of the local office), they explained that I was being charged for a cable modem never returned last time I did business with them. Come again ass****s? No mention of this, no bills were sent to me, but supposedly they tried to contact me. Well I was on the other side of the ****ing planet dip****s! Obviously it wasn't a big enough deal to them to bill me last time, but now they bring it up and expect me to pay it. Think again bitches! Better Business Beareau time! I don't have a problem filing complaints against the worst service ever, but it's such a ****ing hassle and I'm not in the mood to do it right now. **** them.

Censored:

So I get my bill from Adelphia today, and I have $98.24 for adjustment fees. WTF? They haven't ever come out since they opened my account, how could they have adjusted anything? So I called them, guy asked for my account number and after 2 digits he said "This is a Buffalo account number, I'll transfer you to them." Buffalo? NY? I'm in Cali! So next guy gets the account number, says I'll have to transfer you to billing. *sigh* Billing guy gets it, explains the charge, but that's all he can do, he I get transferred to California. Once I talk to the cali guy, I get transferred to the local office. Finally! So she tells me it was for a modem that was never returned. I say "BS, I was told to leave it in the room because I deployed the next day, and then would come by and pick it up." Keep in mind, if I were running a business, and you owed me money, I would bill you for it. I never received a bill once, and this account was canceled early last August. They say "We tried to contact you a couple times, but we couldn't get ahold of you." Sorry, I was on the other side of the planet. I told them I did everything they asked, if they never grabbed the modem, which my roommate said they had come by and grabbed, then it's their fault, but I'm not paying for it. They say "Sorry sir, but I cannot remove that charge, I am under the impression we would never tell someone that, and there's no way I can remove that charge for you."

So now what? I have to pay the bill that I owe, write them and demand they remove the charges, and if you don't, I need to file a complaint with the BBB and attorney general. What a pain in the ass. It doesn't bother me, because even if they don't, I'm canceling the account, still not paying them for it, and having my roommate sign up :D Adelphia has the only internet and TV service out here, so they can afford to **** over their customers in every way.

I had a friend complain about how bad Adelphia is, but now I see why. I will never get service with them once I leave the military, nor do I recommend anyone else do. This is of course, after they showed up 2 hours late to install.

Im pretty sure all cable companies suck.

We have comcast at home, at yes, they're a cable company, but at least it's decent service.

With cable TV out here, I receive a worse picture than I do over air in MN. My broadband speeds are so slow I can't play online, and I'm usually going at 128kbps. As opposed to 512kbps-1mbps average with Comcast.

Also, if you want to avoid all this equipment hassle, it's a pain. They gave me a digital cable box this time, because they now offer music streaming and remote-controlled PPV stations for basic cable. I told them I don't want it, but then I would lose the $15 off for 3 months on my internet, $15 off for 6 months for cable, and half off installation fees. Get this, they charge $50 for a self-installation of the internet! Using my own cable modem, calling the cable company to give them my MAC address to activate the modem and everything else. All they did was split the cable line (something I actually have the equipment to do myself) and screw it into the cable modem. For $50!!! Give me a break.

So right now, I have horrible service, a cable box I need to store for 6 months, and an outstanding bill from a year ago pop up out of no where.

I'm sure if you were the only cable company in an area, you've overcharge and take advantage of the situation.

good point.

although if all of a sudden another cable company came along, Adelphia would go down the crapper pretty damn fast.
