Miami: A four-year-old boy has died after passing out on a ride at Walt Disney World that is so intense it carries sick bags and has resulted in several passengers being treated for chest pain.
Staff at the Florida theme park tried to revive Daudi Bamuwamye after his mother carried him off the Mission: Space attraction unconscious on Tuesday. He was taken to a nearby hospital but died.
:( so sad...
i was at disney world in 2001...so i didnt get to go on this particular ride.....i really want to though...dont think id have the chance to after this incident...they would probably close it down

I really dont understand things like this. I guess im not entirely in a position to really say how intense Mission Space actually is because ive never been on it. But I KNOW there are many more intense rides out there, especially rollercoasters, that nothing like this has ever happened on. Obviously wasnt a ride malfunction. Only explination is sometimes freak things do happen. I wouldnt expect it to close down for too long though, as soon as its inspected and found to be OK, it'll be back up.
EDIT: Looks like its allready back up. Go figure. Obviously, the ride is not at fault here.

I've been on that ride. I came out dizzy after it. They put a lot of pressure on your body. It was kind of annoying. It's sad that kid died though.
I thought Tower of Terror would be the ride that could kill someone :P

i heard on howard stern that the kid didn't even meet the height requirements for the ride... who let him in?

ToT got my stomach and intestines full of gas, and I'm not saying this to be funny. I couldn't walk, it hurt so much. I managed to pass it 3 hours later. 3 hours of walking in a crouched position...
And even though that kid died on the ride, I would still like to try it.

some people are just too fragile for rides like those.... especially people who aren't even supposed to be riding those rides... Height requirement is there for a reason.

!!!! HAHAHA! man that post was funny!
Sony: i know :), i'm one lucky guy.
Story: that sucks for the family...best wishes to them.
and a ride that puts enough G-Forces to distort rider's faces?! i want to go on it!!!
The first time I rode Space Mountain, I rode with my mom, and she really squished me into the side well. My leg came out hurting a lot. If I remember correctly, this kid was sitting between two people - now if they were fat, I wouldn't be surprised if he couldn't handle it. Poor kid.
Anyways, I think Space Mountain is closed in Disneyland for major rehauls. Maybe Disney World is due sometime.

Well that's a strange reaction to the ride. I didn't like the ride. I hate falling. :P
It was a nice sight at night though. lmao.

i was on ToT and i felt it kicked ass~...one of the best rides...im just curious y did you hurt I couldn't walk, it hurt so much. I managed to pass it 3 hours later. 3 hours of walking in a crouched position... i didnt feel a thing...well my butt slammed a little on the seat when u fall and land, thats it......is it due to the slamming of the seat protection on your....lap?..unstrategic spot for guys? ...funny...cousins didnt complain...or mayb they were just hiding it... the view from the top on contrary to the que waiting in line was amazing.

They let a 4 year old on the ride?
I find that actually amazing. They should know the risks in that. Old people and small children usually fall into the same catagory for suseptability, and old people were going to the hospital from time to time from it.

I heard on the news that the kid was exactly 48 inches (the minimum requirement). But on rides like those, i think they should also put a weight or age requirement or something. You can be tall but not have a heart strong enough to stand the pressure. there were even warnings about heart conditions.

The pain was because of the gas (I can't believe I'm still talking about this :)). I don't know why it happened though.

Couldn't you just fart it out???
And about Happydudette, sure she looks cute, but that's not what matters, is it? When someone tells me my g/f is pretty, I instantly say that's not very important.
That's just my opinion though, no offense.

although i don't find it as important as personality, i still think it's pretty important.

The parents were the idiots in this case. No way in my right mind would I let (if I had) my 4 year old son/daughter on a ride that can cause nausea, etc...
Its not Disney's fault the kid died. Its the parents fault. End of story

While i agree that, as a parent, i wouldn't let my kid on a ride like that. I must say:
Why blame someone? freak accident...leave it at that.
that's my opinion

Thats the Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. Built in 2003, up until a few months ago, it was the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in the world at 420ft and 120 MPH. The Coaster that beat it, Kingda ka, is 456 ft high and goes 128 MPH. Same type of coaster basically, just a little taller and a little faster. Ive been to Cedar Point several times now, and got to ride that baby...best thing about it is the launch...it launches you from 0-120 in 4 seconds flat. No car can even accelarate like that.. Its pretty intense. Here's the link to the offical site if you interested. There are plenty of pictures and even a few videos of it.

I live really close to Cedar Point. But I don't plan on going. Too expensive.
