It looks like my PS2 is starting to die. It reads discs and all, but for some reason, it won't read any memory card. I try different memory cards and insert them but none of them appear in the browser section. =/
Anyone have any tips as to what I should do? (Please don't say buy a new one because I can't afford that now.. :p )
Thanks

Stick anotehr memory card between the controller and the inserted memory card, as to prop the inserted one up more. It might not be in straight or something.

the weird thing is, it doesnt make a difference if its another person's memory card. I put it in the slot and nothing happens. It applies to my PS and PS2 mem cards. It's very strange. It reads discs fine tho.
My Gamecube does that with some of my memory cards. If I stick the memory card in the freezer so it gets cold, it magically works sometimes. I can't explain it, but it helps. I discovered it one winter day.

My PS2 died (wouldn't even turn on), and then my brother opened it up and messed around with it and it came back to life.
:O
I've never had the memory card problem though.

That's how I kept my original PS2 alive for 4 years. It never ended up dieing, I just swapped it (5 year warranty REALLY paid off) for the new slim PStwo model. I called it performing open heart surgery :p
everyone's ps2 is dying.
Except mine. Hah hah-hah!

I know that with my PSX memory card, I sometimes had to kind of jiggle it a bit before my PS2 would read it...

Well i found out the problem. My brother and I had an operation on the PS2 to see what was up. The cord that connects the controller and memory card ports to the system had a hole in it (how the **** did that happen.. I haven't a clue). =|
but yeah.. I'll start working soon anyways, so I guess my mp3 player will have to wait. The new slim ps2 costs $100, right?

You can find them on eBay for just a little over $100 I think... Less if you're lucky, maybe.
And there's always the possibility of a used one (why people go and sell brand new things is beyond me...).
