Following scattered gaming coverage, CNN gives it's take on the PS3:


The company unveiled details of its PlayStation 3 Monday, showing off a machine with enormous horsepower, stunning graphics and a slew of multimedia elements.

Due in spring 2006, the PlayStation 3 is powered by the "Cell" processor, which Sony boasts makes the machine 35 times more powerful than the PlayStation 2. It will support Blu-Ray storage devices, which hold significantly more data than today's DVDs, as well as seven wireless controllers, and has outputs for two high-definition televisions (HDTVs).

UHMM.... Did they say use the PSP as an extra screen and controller??

This is like a Nintendo DS.... except a smaller VIBRANT screen for tactical and vital information use and a HI-RES screen displaying gameplay.

PS3 is pulling all the stops to win over EVERYONE.

Yes, the PSP can be used wirelessly in conjunction with the PS3. There's going to be a crapload of options and announcements made on this in the future.

Use the PS3 to download stuff to your PSP.... another option...

PS3's outlook seems flawless...

And only the wealthiest 10% of the world can afford it. A shame. Actually...can't wait for the PS3 muggings like when PS2 was released. Shall be an interesing news period. :D

Don't forget the other 60% if the middle-class that will eventually be able to afford it, by the Christmas season of 2006...

Spring 2006 is like the PSP's launch... no where near a holiday... Come Q4 2006...... a lot more people will be able to get their hands on the PS3.

the Playstation brand has never been stronger...

PS2, 87+ million sold, many more exciting titles on the way
PSP, barely released, extremely high-tech handheld with tons of possibilities
PS3, a beast on its own, pumping out cinema graphics real-time

-PS3 > PSP wireless connectivity for controller usage and data trasnfer
