The official Nintendo site tells us to wait 45 minutes.
It hasn't started yet. They're just playing music. Maybe Reggie misplaced the Revolution mockup?

Revolution joins the gaming wars
By Steven Kent, Special for USA TODAY
LOS ANGELES — The players are in place for the next video game battle of the big guns.
“All-access”: Revolution is meant to beflexible for designers and players alike.
Nintendo
Nintendo reveals details Tuesday of its new system, code-named Revolution, after Sony's announcement of the PlayStation 3 console Monday and Microsoft's unveiling of Xbox 360 on an MTV special last Thursday. (Related story: PS3 purports to pack the most power)
All the action is taking place before the annual E3 Expo, which begins Wednesday. The three gaming giants will unveil the systems there.
Microsoft is expected to have the Xbox 360 in stores first, in time for the holidays. Nintendo and Sony will follow in 2006. No prices have been set, and release dates have not been locked in.
Nintendo, whose GameCube sales have lagged, hopes to gain ground, particularly among the fast-growing older-gaming market. Revolution is about the size of a stack of three DVD cases and has no visible knobs, buttons or ports for joysticks. The system will use only wireless controllers, and it sits flat or stands vertically.
With its front-loading slot for discs, it will play games on full-size DVDs as well as older GameCube games on mini-DVDs. Like Xbox and PlayStation 2, it will play DVD movies.
Nintendo, which mostly ignored the Net with GameCube, also is catching up with the online wave. Revolution will offer broadband access to a free Internet-based player matching service, similar to Xbox Live, that also will have downloadable versions of nearly every Nintendo game — from arcade classic Donkey Kong through current titles such as Mario Sunshine. (Nintendo hasn't decided whether downloading will be free.)
Xbox spokesmen have pointed out that 360's specifications are 10 to 13 times more powerful than those of the original Xbox; Sony said Monday that the processor in Play-Station 3, which will come in several colors and be out next spring, will be 35 times more powerful than the PS2 processor.
Nintendo makes more modest claims that Revolution is two or three times more powerful than GameCube. "It's not all about having 'turbo power,' " Nintendo's Perrin Kaplan says. "It's about what you do with it."
Analyst Richard Doherty of The Envisioneering Group says one of Revolution's chief advantages is that designers will find it far easier to create games for Revolution than for competing systems. "They do not need to make major changes from the games they were designing," he says. "They have better performance without having to do a lot of extra work."
Says Kaplan: "We've built Revolution around the concept of 'all-access gaming,' " a term Nintendo uses to mean the system is easily adapted to by both gamers and designers. "We're about sticking to the soul of gaming."
OH ****!!!! NOT GOOD
Depends on how you define "power."
The conference may be delayed until 12

They're all pretty good this year in design. I personally like the shape of the XBox360 the most. However, the Rev's small size and "self-loading" port make it the best of 'em overall. It's shape is not interesting, but it's sharp. Only problem I have with it is that it looks like it should be in my car replacing the stereo.
Can anyone say "Pimp My Ride"?

And the press conference, much hyped by Nintendites alike.... slowly fades into the glory of Zelda.....
the revolution fades.... seriously...
That was Nintendo's chance to unveil it wholeheartedly at their own time with their own people.
Microsoft and Sony have already unveiled their systems and their gameplay and both look awesome, with PS3 looking even more awesome (pardon my Fanboy ism).
Now Nintendo will have to unveil the Revolution on their showroom floor but it will have to compete with PS3 and X360 showroom hype...... Instead of unveiling it on their press conference where they have the crowd to themselves....
bad move....

05-17-2005, 02:06 PM
I love the IGN board reaction... After everyone was busy laughing at Xbox360, now everyone's complaining about Nintendo's own press conference :p
Granted that doesn't mean the revoultion is gonna be bad, it's just that when Microsoft and Sony are really showing off what their next system can do, and people are blown away by at least one of them, you gotta show SOMETHING....
What are the graphics going to look like, what will the controller have that'll make it so revolutionary... A tech demo, a mockup of the controller, or even spoken DETAILS on what makes the controller 'revolutionary'... ANTHING...
Their only 2 real surprises were the GBA Micro, and the ability to download (supposidly nearly every) old NES, SNES, and N64 games... And both of those are sticking to things from the past, not moving towards the future and the "revolution"...
At this point I'm hoping for a Spaceworld 2005... If they don't spill the beans on it then, does that mean they wouldn't fully reveal it until NEXT E3? *strokes beard*...
Canyarion
05-17-2005, 02:08 PM

Nono, that's not what they said. They said "nearly every game WE made". So at least first party games.
See that's what I initially thought when he brought up the downloading old games thing... But I coulda sworn there was a time when he said it in a more general way, implying that it goes beyond just Nintendo's games...
If it's just Nintendo's games that will be available, as good as they are, even that's a dissapointment...
At this point I'm hoping for a Spaceworld 2005... If they don't spill the beans on it then, does that mean they wouldn't fully reveal it until NEXT E3? *strokes beard*...
even tho i cand find a link, im POSITIVE i read there isnt ever going to be a spaceworld again, its cancelled for good. Even mroe proven by the fact there hasnt been one since 2000.

MuGen
05-17-2005, 02:39 PM
Well I don't blame you guys for the prospect, but Nintendo dug their own grave to the media when they speculated 3 times the power then the GCN... compared to what Sony and Micro said....
When it comes to how many times more powerful it is... I really could careless, I just know that I saw a wonderful display of power by the PS3. And Nintendo coming out with a ass number like 3 times more powerful.......... It's not bad, but when saying that to the media and press... you kinda dig your own grave.
Many forums are already shafting the Revolution because of that statement.
I can't believe they would make us wait another year to see the controller.
Why not? we had to wait till the last minute to see gamecube and its controller too.
I think at the first E3 sony and MS showed off thier stuff, nintendo ran a couple tech demos. had to wait till the year after to see the GC.
Teuthida
05-17-2005, 02:46 PM

sounds oddly familar, oh yes. that stratagy has worked well for them in the past. lol
honestly, not a smart move at all. thier fans wanna see hype, they want to KNOW what they're wating for. some of nintendos userbase is either going to go out and buy an 360, or decide on PS3, BEFORE evolution is even shown. then when its shown its like, oh well, already reserved or bought something else.
they didnt have to show everything, but they needed to give people a reason to wait for em.

The reason Nintendo didn't want to reveal much is because they're still not finished constructing Project: Revolution. Very smart move in my book. While Microsoft and Sony already have their systems finalized and complete, Nintendo is taking another year to continue improving and optimizing what will be the ultimate gaming system.
Next year's E3 prediction: Project: Revolution being the ultimate gaming system and the next Gameboy having power and graphics equal to PS3.
Oh Sony, if only you hadn't rushed. :shakehead Looks like you'll learn your lesson the Dreamcast way...

Nintendo was stupid for saying 2-3 times more powerful than GameCube. They always understate things, and I bet you won't be able to tell the difference between Rev and Xbox 360.
Kyuzo - I don't understand you coming in and bashing Nintendo in every way you can. Xbox 360 wasn't revealed last year, and it will be released later this year, and yet you don't bash them for it. By the time PS3 is released, Revolution will have already been unveiled, and so they will be on an even playing field. Revealing this early does nothing for Sony other than create hype that is too early for preorders anyways.
People aren't going to start lining up to pre-order the PS3 because Sony overspeculates their system's power while Nintendo underdescribes theirs. The difference in graphics will not be that great.
Am I disapointed there wasn't much shown? Hell yeah, but it was expected, and showing anything this year was only Sony trying to convince gamers not to buy an XBox 360.
One Winged Angel
05-17-2005, 08:10 PM
At this point, the difference in graphics is not going to be phenominal. I'm more amused by the fact you'll be able to download old games from NES, SNES, N64 and the GC (assuming its free).
btw, the other systems look uglier.

While I agree Sony's graphical capabilities seem a bit overrated, they maybe not as overrated as some people are thinking... I can definately see how Killzone 2 isn't gonna happen in the actual game... maybe the GRAPHICS will look that good, however half of what makes that video so amazing is all the activity on the screen at once... And not just the activity in general, all the unique, situation-specific activity going on... It's basically too scripted to be 100% believable...
As for Revolution, I think the graphics will be good enough... Maybe every bit as good as PS3... But we can't be sure yet... As much as that will be the focus for a lot of people's initial reaction, I'm more interested in them finally letting the dern cat out of the bag about the controller... I mean it's supposed to be so amazing... But with all this talk of uber-backwards-compatibility, it can't be TOO different because it would make playing those existing games way too awkward.... Although they could easily release a special CLASSIXXX controller for a bit of extra cash...
As for getting a head start, getting a head start on hype always helps...
If you get people talking early, they get their mind set on buying the PS3... And when they've had their mind set on buying the PS3 for so long, it's less likely that, no matter how amazing the revolution's true revealing might be, people will suddenly pull a 360 (GET IT!? HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and buy a Revolution...
But again, nobody can be sure until it's released and we hear the public's reaction :p
And one last note, on the super compatilbility download NES/SNES/N64 games...
First off, if it's ONLY Nintendo's games, as good as they are, that's lame (I think I've said that before maybe)... Second, assuming it's all games (or at least all the major ones), I'm hoping they don't do something like say... "Well if you wanna buy Chrono Trigger used, you're gonna have to shell out around 50 bucks... So we can sell a downloadable version for saaaaay 29.99!"... But instead go for an approach of a set fee... Maybe NES games a buck, SNES games 1 or 2... N64 games maybe as much as 5... With prices varying in certain situations...
But you get the idea... If Nintendo tries to rip a hole in people's pockets with these emulated versions of old games, that'll be beyond a ripoff, and a crying shame... They're not making ANY money on those games currently anyways...

Kyuzo, one of your most annoying habits is pointing out the obvious 100 times over.......
Yes we know the conference was disappointing, and I normally expect this from Nintendo anyway so my expectations were not high in the first place. I still enjoy their games and I still can't wait to see what they have to offer, but by now I have learnt that Nintendo don't compete very well with the other consoles. They do things their own way, which sometimes really hurts them, but I enjoy their games and can't wait to get more info on the revolution.

I don't think the PS3's capabilites are super overhyped. I just remember Sony telling numbers about 70 million polygons a second and Toy Story rendered in real time for PS2, and that never happened. We know they like to BS a little with their ideas, that's all. I don't think Revolution's graphics will be as good as PS3, buy Kyuzo is making it sound like they are ging to be the difference between N64 and PS2. They won't. It'll be the difference of PS2 and XBox, if that. The further we go into these games the less of a difference you can notice.
THURSDAY
The video at nintendo.com hinted something big is going down on Thursday. That is according to the people who saw it before they took it off.
from ign:
Aries said that Nintendo's conference would be a letdown but that they had a BIG surprise, and kept referring to the 19th.
-matt says this aries is fake, but just after that
-all the aries predictions have come true...
-then again aries' IP is from bank of america, a bank as in "the game" movie, which aries told us to watch.
-Matt posted that infamous "hot or not" pic in the rev board when prime3 is going to be a GC game.
-Aries predicted nintendo's conference was going to be weak on purpouse.
-there are this strange videos at nintedo.com
-there is a secret booth called "club revolution".
-Pics from ign supposedly apeared on a no-name site.
-There is a NINTENDO NOW advertisement at the new nintendo.com and a weird background.
-IGN has been pretty quiet after nintendo's conference.
-Everybody is waitint the 19th...
The fact that this video was at nintendo.com with nintendo execs makes it credible. SOMETHING BIG is going to happen. I'd say either Mario128 or the Revolution controller.

I just remember Sony telling numbers about 70 million polygons a second and Toy Story rendered in real time for PS2, and that never happened.
Yeah, these PS3 demos did bring up suspicions based on PS2's unveiling and tech-demos, and how it never fully lived up to the hype... But a girl can still dream!
I mean we all know that the numbers show that PS3 is increeeedibly powerful... The problem is, Xbox360 has a fairly lackluster showing (of games which I've heard were actually running on things that represent only about half of the 360s full power), then PS3 blows everyone's socks off with these amazing demos and claims, and people scream "That can't be real!"...
So basically right now it's a matter of having faith and adopting a wait and see approach...
Even if those tech demos are to PS3 as PS2's were to... PS2... I still think this generation's graphical leap will be much bigger than some people were expecting (and recently doubting based on Xbox 360s 'Xbox 1.5' showing)...
Jeez, my posts are getting longer... Reminds me of back in the day... PS2 vs. Dolphin! Xbox roflmao it's just a glorified PC!!!
It's good to be getting back into all that excitement again (^-^
Edit: Now Neo's got me damn excited... I hope this isn't a let down...
I'm hoping for a more in-depth revealing of the Revolution... It's controller perhaps... I thought that the way Iwata (or whoever it was) brought up the controller, but then said "Which we will be showing you... sometime later" or something like that seemed a tad suspicious if you ask me... He chuckled as people sorta sighed in dissapointment...
E3 tends to be very top-heavy... Starts off with a bang, goes out with very few details... I think it'd be quite rad if Nintendo got people's hopes down, then bam left the show with a bang...

Uhmmm... Stop overreacting... if you know yourself the Nintendo conference was disappointing, then it shouldn't tick you off SO MUCH when others say it.
And If I'm bashing any system it's the Xbox 360. The only thing I was bashing was Nintendo's conference, and not their Revolution or anything else. I actually have high hopes for Nintendo's revolution. But if you haven't noticed already... I'm a Sony fanboy... so get used to it. You've all gotten used to Crash' antics and GameMasters' antics...... but you guys don't seem to get used to mine, and you have to point out my vices all the time.
Either ignore me or get used to me.... I'm a fanboy and I'm pretty sure everyone else is here too, but I have a very conspicious way of showing it.
Like I said, I'm excited about the Revolution from what I've seen, but I was disappointed in their showing.... who the hell cares if I say that more than once? The conference was disappointing, the conference was disappointing.... If it bothers you so much ignore it...
I dunno what the big deal here is...
Do I complain about you guys constantly bashing the PS3 controller? No...
EDIT: The thing about the demos and footage of the games that was shown at the Conference is that they were being run on the PS3 itself. It maybe wasn't the actual game, but it shows the PS3 is capable of rendering those kind of graphics. Right now, I believe what they showed is what we're gonna get.... The only thing I expect to change is the design abit and the controller abit.

I guess their Revolutionary controller may in fact be something totally different. I see those ports and they look like GCN ports, so they are there for BWC.
So... the revolutionary controller isn't out of the question anymore.

Is that real?
Well then, maybe the GC controller is meant to play all the games of past, and the rev controller is used PURELY for the rev... if only...
And Kyuzo, calm down, I'm used to you... in here and out of here...
That and I told you that I'm getting a PS3, just for show of course [/endsarcasm] , and the Revolution...
Well I've purposefully avoided posting anywhere in E3 discussions because I hate the antics.
But I'll make this post brief.
I went into E3 as unbiased as I could. I got really excited about PS3 last night. It's good except for the controller, which looks like ass.
So, today, when I logged on, I got all the Nintendo conference updates. I didn't bother coming here; I went straight to Nintendo.com. I was really happy with everything. The Gameboy Micro is really "meh" in my books. Unless it's like $40-$50, I won't be looking into it.
Zelda I'm really happy about. The art direction is superb, and I really love the graphics.
Then I got a gander at the Revolution. I'm really satisfied with it. The design is definitely the best part. There's nothing really horribly gimmicky with it. Overall, nothing I would change or add at all. I can't wait to see the games coming. And I haven't read much, but I can't see anything to complain about the Revolution, at all. Aside from the fanboys who will find SOME way to complain.
My only hope right now is that Nintendo gets the respect it deserves. I am so sick and tired of the Gamecube being whipped and tossed around this generation. The Revolution honestly looks a great deal more fixed than the Gamecube was. I will seriously hate anybody who ignores the Revolution when it comes to comparisons unless it arrives extremely flawed. Until then, I spit at anybody who just does "OMG PS3 vs. XBOX 360 this that".
Dyne out.

But see, problems with what Nintendo revealed about the revolution aren't what people are talking about, it's the lack of information...
If you ask me, the only threat there ever was of anything possibly being gimmicky had to do with the controller... Which... we still havn't seen... And will apparently be a huge part of the system and the way it works...
You can't see anything to complain about because we havn't really seen anything, and after Microsoft and especially Sony's huge showings, that's the whole problem people are having now...
Nintendo fanboys don't usually find ways to complain, they find ways to go insanely over-the-top apesh*t CRRAAZY excited over everything Nintendo reveals...
and showing anything this year was only Sony trying to convince gamers not to buy an XBox 360.
which is exactly what they should do. Sony isnt afraid of letting thier cards show. Nintendo is. Sony gave reasons to hold out on Xbox for a PS3. Nintendo shoulda tried to give reasons to hold out on PS3 for a nintendo. or at least, gave them a reason to wait and see whats coming from them.
I don't think the PS3's capabilites are super overhyped. I just remember Sony telling numbers about 70 million polygons a second and Toy Story rendered in real time for PS2, and that never happened. My main, and pretty much only problem with nintendos conference, is that they didnt give gamers a reason to wait for them. they didnt plant the seed.

I'm talking about in the past. Again, I already mentioned what Sony said about PS2 and the Emotion Engine that never held up (70 million polygons, Toy Story in real-time), whereas Nintendo's battery life for GBA, DS, and Wavebird were more than they stated, and Wavebird can go WAY past the 20-30 feet or whatever number they gave it. I'm not going to argue specs about this generation because we don't know Nintendo's, numbers don't mean everything, and I'm 99.9% sure PS3 will be more powerful anyways.

So yeah, at the risk of setting myself up for a huge dissapointment, I am now, in my own mind, about 99% certain that Thursday will infact mean something big... And I think it's even tied into the mockup video...
Bada bing (http://www.nintendonow.com/index.php?categoryid=5&m_articles_articleid=2635&PHPSESSID=93303b2cb674f6c3b9cebabbe0b71986)
That site has a very nice explanation of all the 'coincidences', where Aries has been right, the weird videos on Nintendo, etc...
From the second that guy from Nintendo said "We will show you the controller... Later... *little smile as everyone groans because they want it NOW!*", I had a feeling something was up... That by 'Later', he didn't mean fall, or next E3...
And then at the end of the article, this really caught my attention...
Today at the Nintendo Press Conference was something even more astonishing. Reggie Fils-Aime mentioned multiple times that we all need to think with our “Right Brain”. A comment such as this isn’t very common, but for some reason also appears in the video as the name of the headset: “The Brain”
I think Nintendo intentionally made the amateurish Aries 'Insider blog', and had a hand in creating that mockup as well...
The graphics might not actually be from revolution (although they might), that headset might not be the real thing (although... it might)... But again, another amatuerish tidbit, reflecting the IDEA of what might be shown off Thursday...
I feel kinda silly... I sound like some fanboy in denial... "Nintendo's press conference was dissapointing! THEY MUST HAVE SOMETHING UP THEIR SLEAVE! PLZ!? *cries*"... But there just seem to be too many 'coincidental' connections for it to just be... a coincidence...
I'd be as mellow and mysterious as Danchastu was but I'm too excited about the possibilities! >_<

Square Enix to Join the Revolution
Square Enix Co., Ltd., a leading developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software including two of the world's most popular franchises FINAL FANTASY and DRAGON QUEST, has announced plans for the FINAL FANTASY Crystal Chronicles series to be developed for the Revolution, Nintendo's next-generation console currently in development.
The Revolution's promise of seamless interactive entertainment provided by the built in Wi-Fi system caught Square Enix's attention. The company decided to join the Revolution with FINAL FANTASY Crystal Chronicles, which was originally released on Nintendo's GameCube by Game Designers Studio, Inc, an affiliate of Square Enix.
"We would like to strongly support Nintendo's next-generation networking plans," said Yoichi Wada, president of Square Enix. "The Revolution may embody a new platform beyond a portable or console, which makes possible a new structure in the network gaming system, changing the ways communities are built and supported. This is the kind of direction we've envisioned, and we will challenge ourselves to provide immersive interactive content in response to what Nintendo offers."
More details regarding the new FINAL FANTASY Crystal Chronicles series are not yet determined and will be announced in the near future. So stay tuned...
