So, the 64,000 dollar question is, will we need a hard drive to play it? I realize the Japanese beta testers do, but that could just be attributed to the constant updating a beta test needs. I was wondering if Square has made a defintitive statement either way.

Yes.

Like it or not, the hard drive is needed.

I wonder if the HD will be a success or not... if Sony can convince enough developers to do something with their major online games to make them require a HD, then it could make it so people buy a HD (like it or not, like stu said) just to get ahold of those awesome online games...

on the other hand, it could just make all those major anticipated games into major flops and Sony's online plans could crash and burn :p

As for the answer to the question... errr... what Stu said... :D

Yes, and it really does suck.

it could suck, yes...but it could turn out to be great...

you see, if FFXI ends up selling...oh say a million copies worldwide, then more and more games and features will be used with the hard drive. thus making your purchase of the HDD a good thing. FFXI will >DEFINATELY< not be the only game to require the HDD. There will be some other beauties....can you say Star Wars Galaxies?
