According to eBay sales:

Well, timing's also important. There are fewer people who have PSPs, so there are more people who want to have one, but don't. I still know people interested in getting an expensive I-Pod rather than a PSP, due to the linear use of the 'Pod.

Check again next month? I'll be interested in the numbers then.

Right now, it's like saying Madden 2005 is outselling College Football '04 (and I don't know if there is such a thing).

That means more people are selling their PSPs on eBay because they didn't live up the hype ;).

Just kidding!

One thing I like about this non-sellout launch is that it backfires right in the faces of those poo-poo face pee-pee heads who stockpile new systems and sell them for outrageous prices...

Around launch I saw a picture featured in an auction of like 8 psps stacked in some guy's house... It was fairly close to ending, and was maybe just barely over PSP's retail price...

But what really made me happy was seeing the people who made "buy it now"-only auctions for like 350 ending without a sale :p

yes, that i love. I'd love to see thoes people actually not be able to sell em at retail price and lose money over all. I hate people like that.

Well, yes... but that's not the PSP's fault.

Apparently Sony hasn't caught on to Apple's size reductions; each new iPod generation becoming thinner, smaller, and sleeker than the one before it.

The reasons Sony will never sell as many PSPs as Apple has sold iPods is because Sony didn't try to make the PSP smaller. If they had made it the size of an iPod Shuffle, Nintendo loyalists and non-gamers alike would've ran to stores on launch day.

Nintendo's next Gameboy will definitely be the size of an iPod Shuffle or smaller. That's what true gamers want.

1) The ipod has been out for years, the PSP, has not. Give the PSP time to catch up in the relative sales to time being on the market ratio.

2) the ipod shuffle is horrible. It has no screen to view the song you're playing.

3) If the PSP was the size of an ipod shuffle, You wouldnt be able to see what it is you're playing. The PSP is a media device, the ipod is an MP3 player. Different catagories.

The reason the Ipod will OUTSELL the PSP is because it's a f*cking music player.....more people listen to music then play games. You could have just said that.

And what's with the comparison? Might as well compare the function of your elbow to the function of your penis. Oh, whoopdeedo, the PSP can play music. I could have sex with my elbow too.

And.....Gamemaster actually made me laugh, after I read his post twice to make sure he was joking, which I hope he was. If he wasn't, I hope he gets speared to death by angry eskimos.

Wow, some people need to escape the world of internet forums and get back to a place where people think logically.

The iPod and PSP are not comparable products. Unless of course, you're trying to make the argument that the PSP is a multimedia device, and for some reason you honestly believe people are buying it to listen to music. But if you believe that, then you probably think that people buy cell phones to play games, and PDAs to watch movies.

Look at the two products, the PSP is less than a month old, and a product where Sony limited production to attempt to create hype by doing the old "Sold out at launch" marketing technique which just screws over customers in the end. Then there is the iPod, which has been out for years and while they continue to improve, if you wanted one, you've had ample chance to purchase one.

As for the iPod Shuffle, it's not designed to be a mini-iPod. It's called the iPod Shuffle for a reason, because you put on your songs, and they are all randomly shuffled. The songs don't play in order, and you never know which song will be next. It was designed that way, for that exact purpose. If you wanted to manage playlists and store your entire music collection, they have a product for that, and if you want to take your photos with you on the go, they have a product for that too. Amazing how that works, isn't it?

I originally posted this thread not to compare the products, I just posted it to inform people that PSP is the hot item on eBay...

People assume that the aim of this thread is to say PSP is better than iPod.... but thats not the aim of this thread.

You made it look that way when your title says "Ouch for Apple" and "PSP gets top honors"

Just observing...I think that both products are great. In fact, if I keep winning money at poker, I'm going to buy an iPod with my winnings.

I agree with Blackmane... if you hadn't put "ouch for apple" it wouldn't have seen like such a competition.

Then again, I don't think eBay sales really affect the console sales that much, because people are buying used systems/iPods rather than new. You'd think a company wouldn't want to be on the top of eBay sales because then it would mean people are willing to sell your product used at a lower price and don't want to hold on to it.

Also, blackmane, I highly recommend the iPod. I've had mine since August of last year... a graduation gift from my parents... it is awesome. I have the 4th Gen 20gig model... it works perfectly. The music sounds really good, holds a ton of information, and it's very stable and really durable. High quality piece of machinery.

I HAD the 20 gig. Then this moron I work with stole it. He got caught, but the 20 is still in posession by the police for evidence. This happened on March 8th by the way, three weeks after I received it as a birthday present.

Well, I got tired of waiting for the trial to begin so I used my tax return to purchase on of the new 30gig Ipod Photos. This thing is everything the 20 is and more. The color screen is much sharper and when the text scrolls across the screen, you can actually read it. I haven't messed much with the photo functions but they do seem to be interesting. The best part about a photo though is that color screen. Beautiful to behold. As a bonus, this model is priced at $349. That's only 50 dollars more than the 20 and you get a sharper screen, longer battery life (about 17 hours versus 12), and 10 more gigs of storage space.

There is only one complaint I have. The iTrip I bought with the iPod is acting all wonky. Hopefully I can find a well paying job this summer and buy one of those vehicle integration systems.

I only said OUCH FOR APPLE in terms of their demand on eBay... oh well what can ya do...

the world will always consist of misconceptions.
