View Full Version : RE4 crashing GC

Has any one else had trouble with RE4? Sometimes while playing the game, it will crash my GC and I will get an error saying something like "An error has occured, ....please read your owners manual for more information." or something like that. The only way to get it working again is to power the GC off then turn it on again. It happened mostly when I'm playing The Mercenaries, but earlier today it happened when I was playing through the game.
Now I don't play my GC much and I don't know if it is just the GC, but I've never seen it happen before with any other games while I'm playing. My nephews also come over and play the GC quite frequently and I don't think thats ever happened to them.
The RE4 discs are top notch, no scratches or smears or anything on the surface. What could it be?

Uhhh I seem to vaguely remember the game freezing or something while playing RE4....
But nothing crazy, just the normal system freeze that happens on consoles once in a blue moon....
So, my friend, I believe you are imagining things! Or your GC hates you... Or perhaps it's the copy of RE4 that hates you...
or PERHAPS... perhaps your copy of RE4 hates your GC...
Gamecube hiccup. Happens once in a while.
Happened to me in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle back in february 2002, once. Told me to consult the manual, too. I packed it all up, ready to return it to Nintendo, but the day I was sending it, I decided to check it out: and it was fine.
It's been fine ever since. It's survived 36-hour marathons of PSO, entire action games from start to end (such as Viewtiful Joe) and a hell of a lot of LAN parties.
People have had it hiccup on Metroid Prime, too.
GC? Crashing? Never! No....................
My xbox and ps2 have crashed but never my GC.

I have never seen any system crash in my day.... which is a stroke of luck. My friend had the Xbox, I played Halo with him and friends for hours... no crashing.
My PS2 never crashed, and my friend's GC has reportedly never crashed.
But I guess it happens when it happens.
On a related note - I encountered a weird bug in Halo the other day. I drove a warthog down to the silent cartographer (the part where they shut the doors just as you get there) anyway the front part of the warthog got stuck when the doors came down and started shaking back and forth violently. I tried to free it with grenades but it didn't work. Even though the door wasn't fully closed it looked like there was a second faded door right behind it.

My N64 crashed a few times. Once with Golden Eye and twice with WC98 (soccer).

I think Golden Eye was too advanced for the n64 to begin with ;)

When I was playing THPS3 on XBox last week, and I did a wallride and got stuck behind a billboard. I just kept spinning and adding to my multiplier, but I couldn't do any flips or other tricks, and even when time ran out it didn't do anything. I had to quit.
Weird.

THPS2 used to crash my GC then one day stopped doing so. Then I remember the times my GC made this really loud horn sound (like a foghorn) after alot of PSO playing but then it all went away also. Dunno about RE4 crashes, havent heard of many

I think I may have had the Cube crash ONCE in metroid prime in that famous Elevator bug. But I dont recall any other times, and I know I got no crashes in RE4.

My Gamecube crashed repeatedly when battling the shark boss in Viewtiful Joe, I could never figure it out...

No crashes with the GC at all, none with my thin PS2. No problems exist.

My Gamecube first died out on me on the Xmas of '02 when I got RE0 and Metroid Prime. For no reason. And right when I got the games. I always took care of it.
... I had to return it and get a new one. That royally pissed me off.
And RE4 has frozen twice on my GC. In the garden with the dogs. If you try leaving the garden with only one piece of the moon, it freezes.

My GCN really only crashed once. I was playing Rogue Leader on the mission where you sneak into thet Imperial base to steal the Tydirium, daytime. The mission loaded and I found my Y-Wing with AT-ST legs on top of it. It completely froze and I got the whole foghorn thing. T'was weird...
And I got the Metroid Prime Elevator glitch, but that's the games fault...
/me shrugs and walks away
