I know this belongs in the GBA forum, but I figured more people would see it here, if Xantar, PureEvil or Neo want to move it they can.

Ok, you've probably seen my thread about a 20th anniversary edition platinum NES in this forum, I wrote that before I saw this on Nintendo of America's Webpage:

This is a limited edition GBA in a Platinum colored Shell celebrating the 1 year anniversary of the GBA. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm buying one, so here's my question: " How many of you are going to blow $80.00 on another GBA?" I know I am, this thing looks too good to pass up, besides, I'll only open it to test it, and remove the batteries to prevent damage.

This is Cyrax saying "good luck on finding one of these, and happy Handheld Gaming."http://www.nintendo.com/news/news_articles.jsp?articleID=6372

Sure, I'll get it, add it on to my "To Buy" list. :D

Yeah I'm gonna try to buy it...

I should be able to save up enough to afford one of them after buying all my NGC stuff...

Although I'm not just gonna keep it stuck away in it's package thing... I never do that with anything... I need a GBA and might as well get this magical special edition thing... it only costs like 10 bucks more than usual, right? I usually keep my systems in excellent condition anyways...

Hopefully I can get ahold of one

What's PureEvil got to do with ths? He doesn't moderate this forum any more, remember? And I think BigJustinW is going to be upset with you for forgetting him.

:D j/k

As to this thread, I'm moving it to the GBA Forum but leaving a link here in the General Forum so that it gets some more traffic. Sorry, Cyrax. Rules are rules.

I'm not buying it. I already have one and I don't want to waste $80 to get another that I probably won't be able play or even take out of the box because my mom won't let me. I'm really much of a collector so...

why bother? chances are i won't be able to get hold of 1, and i already have a GBA. also, since it will be limited edition and stuff if i use it then ppl will be more inclined to try to steal it than if i used my regular arctic one.

Nah. I already have a GBA and I don't want another one, especially not for 80 bucks, I don't need to pay more money to get a copy of something I already have.

Well, since it is coming out a few days before GBA's one year aniversary, I will not be buying it... BUt more like using my warranty to get it! I will probably be accidentaly dropping my artic GBA, and getting the Platinum one!

Tell you what, if I win the lottery tonight I'll buy three of them, one to keep boxed, one to play, and one to piss people off by smashing it to peices before their very eyes. (Naah not really)

Honestly, if I had the money to burn, I would, but I am having difficulty getting the money together to go to the shop and get a packet of crisps at the moment so a new GBA is outta the question.

Thanks Xanny, I know about the rules ;) I actually wanted to post it here, and move it with a link origi bnally but I forgot how to move a topic and leave a link, because I haven't had top do it in a long time. I only mentioned PE,because He's our Webmaster now as his rank implies, and he usually has the final say.

As for the system, I did a little browsing on it, and I calculated the price, the exact price from Electronics boutiqe online (EBGames.com) has it listed as $76.98 with regular 2-day shipping included, and no sales tax except in PA, and Nevada, I figured this out by using the shipping chart, for those of us who want to pre-order it. I also checked other websites, but right now only EB is taking pre-orders for this system.

I know I'm crazy for buying another GBA, but I just want it for the collectability, watch the prices for this thing on eBay soar to an outrageous amout of cash, just like they did for the Gold N64's. Then wait a few months and people will sell them dirt cheap, trust me, that's how to get one of these.

Great, now I have to buy a large firebox safe to store my valubles in, including one of these systems. Also I don't have cash to burn, but I've put off buying something else I wanted to save for the Platinum GBA.

I am not going pay for something that i already have. However, if anyone is planning on getting a GBA (anybody that doesn't have one) i would suggest getting it.

Will there be a trade in option for those who have already spent $80?

I don't think so, of course you could always pawn your old one at a store like Gamestop, or have EB sell it with their "used Game/System options if they're still around, I got a ton of NES Games at Funcoland that way, and some SNES stuff at EB in my local mall. Keep in mid that if this system weren't a limited edition system in a platinum colored shell I wouldn't buy it, unless it was in my favorite color which is yellow. I usually buiy duplicates of cheaper stuff, but like I said, this will be opened to be tested to make sure it works, and then it will be sealed away again, and if I had my way, it would be in a Strong box with two rare discontinued Record LP's that have only been played ONCE by me, because I bought them sealed second hand with the original price tag on them, but had to open them so they wouldn't warp. I also might use the system for Games that link the GBA to the GCN, and don't require a second cartridge to use the GBA, then I'll have two GBA's to use as controllers, and three if you count my brothers.

In short, as soon as I have the cash, thbis system will be pre-ordered and in my hands. Now if Nintendo had offered this instead of that ugly clear fuscica (pink) GBA, as a regular color, I'd be kicking myself for not waiting to buy it, but since this is a colletable GBA, I'm probably going to nail one ASAP.

Update on this little beauty, I checked EBGames.com again earlier today, and they now have the Box art, with the words "Limited Collectors Edition" printed on the box. IGN Pocket says it's similar to the Japanese "Silver GBA" in terms of how easy it is to obtain one, in otherwords, next to impossible. They're right. I went to both the EB in my local mall, and The Gamestop, and neither of the stores is taking pre-orders at this time, Gamestop won't be selling it, and EB has no information on it, which is strange, because EBGames.com is their online store, IGN was right about one thing, This system is going to be rare. I'll open it to test it before I remove the batteries, and then purchase a strong box to seal the system away in, that way no one will steal it like theuy might try to do with my Regular arctic GBA. I wouldn't Even let the Platinum GBA leave the house. Maybe I'll take some pics of it if it has any special info about the "Collector's Release".

Edit: got some chash today make that only $33.98 to go before I can buy it, and at the end of every week I'll be even closer to pre-ordering it.
