Read...and keep reading. Quite possibly the thing to save games. And looks like a blast too.

Pictures that are described in the article:

It looks like damn good fun, no doubt, but brilliant?

That is yet to be seen.

Sweet. Would you believe that a friend of mine was talking to me about something like this a couple months ago, but knew nothing of this "innovative" game?

He was stoked to hear that a new game using the same old idea is going to be made.

However.... they call this new one innovative? Probably are able to do that because few people know of EVO? Or, maybe simply because they don't know of EVO.

EDIT: I'm not responsible for anyone who chooses to download the game. Doing so would likely be illegal. I post the site as a reference, for it was the site given to me by a friend. And no, I do not own a copy of the game (though I may own other emulated games). :sneaky:

Looks like a cross between The Sims/Black and White/Pikmin.

A good combination if I've ever known one!

I've seen my brother play EVO, it was fun and pretty cool for that time. :)

The important thing is that this could be the way all games are made in the future.

This could be the innovation that puts new life into the gaming industry.

well, when you think about it, this concept has been around for quite some time with leveling up characters with custom stats and skill also with RTS games like C&C ( i think that's where this whole thing began in the first place) where players can build bases and such and control troops...this is the same idea just on a MUCH larger scale where the player can control nearly everything.

as i said, i would really like to try it out...although it might be a little more complicated than anticipated for the fact that you have to look after so much.

Did you not read the whole technology and stuff behind the game? While the game in and of itself may not be brilliant, its what he's doing with the game and how that is brilliant. Even if the concept never catches on, that says more of the people who ignored it rather than the idea itself.

Thank you for feeling me on this one. I don't think anyone is realizing the technology behind this game is quite extraordinary. They are not building a program with a bunch of customizable areas. They are developing a new way to build a game, by just putting the pieces into code and developing a program that will make sense of it however people want to customize. So, instead of programmers trying to think up and have every customization covered, they let the program do it.

That is brilliant.

errr...yes...sorry, i wasn't focusing on that part...you're right...anyway, my opinion still stands about it being complicated.
