Someone over at IGN noticed that these two areas appear to be almost identical. Unflooded Hyrule and flooded Hyrule?

Someone else tries to disprove it:

I suppose it's logical seeing as this is the sequel to WW. As for the differences, it could be that these scenes take place at different times. More time traveling? Well, at least you'll be swimming instead of sailing...or so it would seem.

It looks like draining that water is probably one of the missions. Either that or both those pictures are different parts of the same forest that just happen to look similar.

and in the next metroid there's going to be a light world and a dark world and some weapons will work only in one and some only in the other and....
Jesus christ I'm so sick of this game mechanic.

You'd think the guy who did this comparison would've noticed he spelled ground on the right as grpund :p

Hm, pretty interesting...
Stonecutter, I'm not tired of these mechanisms yet... It's always a nice addition and gives more depth to the game.
Unless of course everthing depends on that 1 thing... then I agree, we've seen that a bit too often. :(
Perhaps the weather effects have to do with the flooding? There's some heavy rainfall in that trailer...

It could simply be like Gamemaster mentioned, an area that you can flood like to access another area...
Or something...
I'd much rather it be just a single area that gets flooded, wether for a puzzle or due to some event that happens during the game than there be two seperate worlds, one flooded and one unflooded...

It could always be another time travel issue maybe? Like this one certain area is flooded in the future or past? That could kinda disprove the guy that thinks it isnt true, because stuff grows and dies over time ect, but the area will still look BASICALLY the same.

Maybe it's just an early trailer where they reused a tree to save time.

Ding ding.
But anyways, if you want to look at it positively.. maybe it's like the Forest Temple and the Water Temple combined? :D
Dear god, no, my head would explode.

Its far too little to be able to plausibly hypothesize whether Zelda GCN has a flooded and unflooded world, and far too early to start complaining about an overused mechanic as if its already been confirmed.
LIke GM suggested, this could just be one part of a dungeon or something. Link comes to an area, finds it flooded, and has to unflood it to proceed. No big deal.

I guess I'm trying to light a fire with wet leaves with this statement,
but don't you think these kinda games gets Repetitive? And no, I'm not saying it's a bad game or anywhere near that gesture of a statement, but.... Don't you think it gets repetitive at times?

What would you suggest they do to reduce repetitiveness?

Make Link go somewhere else... give him a new outfit, new weapon maybe something just..completely new.....in terms of Link....

I don't see how Link makes it repetitive. What the main character looks like doesn't change the gameplay. In Japan, there was a remake of sorts of the original Zelda that was only obtainable through downloading from a Japan-only Super Famicom satellite add-on. Rather than controlling Link, though, you controlled some kid in a baseball cap. Despite the change in character, the game was still most definetely Zelda.
And what do you mean "give him a new weapon?" Link has a pretty diverse amount of weapons, from his basic sword to the bow and the hookshot, etc. Changing the Master Sword to a Master Mace or Master Club will make very little difference.
I doubt changing anything about Link would reduce Zelda's "repetitivenes." Besides, Zelda is only repetitive in the sense that they follow the same basic formula of exploration, which is what makes each game part of the same series. Occasionally we get off shoot titles like Majora's Mask or the Four Swords games that mix it up a little. I think that's all that's needed.

Repetitive? Nope, not at all. It's a series. Continuity is fundamental and expected. If you want something different, play another game.

It's nice to have a series that doesn't change so drastically that it isn't what it once was. Or we could give Link a water pack...
This Link does have a very altered outfit compared to Link of old. Would love the lobster shirt to return in this new game though. :D
As for weapons, each Zelda has different weapons that set it apart. Look at Minish Cap...a hat that shrinks you, bear claws for digging through walls, a gust jar for shooting and sucking air... Though I must admit most of the games keep a similar set of weapons.

He's right, it is getting repetitive.
They should make you be Shadow Link, and instead of the traditional play mechanics, you have a gun. Not a gun that fits into the game style at all, but a really modern badass 9 millimeter or something. Like 50 Cent would use.
