GS: What can we expect from Nintendo at E3?

RF: At E3 we will certainly share more information about Revolution. Having said that, Revolution won't have a big presence at the booth itself. It'll be touched on in our press briefing, I'll talk about it with our retailers, we may show some things in the back room so to speak. But on the show floor it really is all about Game Boy Advance and showcasing the great product we have for that system. It's gonna be about DS and the new games we're launching for the August-through-holiday time period, and showcasing the great product for GameCube, especially the Legend of Zelda game.

but on the other hand
We have a lot more footage to show, (zelda) will be playable at E3, and it's a fantastic game. I've the opportunity to play some of it and it's phenomenal. It's deep, it's rich--it has all of those elements that you love in a Zelda game and graphically it looks beautiful.

and now REggie is Delirous
GS: What's the lasting impression you want people to walk away with after they leave your booth at E3?

RF: We want them to leave feeling that "Wow, Zelda is going to be as huge hit and I want it now. And I'm going to go to my local retailer and put a deposit for the super premium edition of the game," which we'll make available. We want the fans to walk away saying, "Wow, look at all this great GBA product and I'm going to be a two-handheld consumer, having both my old-time GBA as well as my brand new DS." I want the consumer walking away just totally blown away with all the great product coming out for DS, especially Mario Kart, Metroid Prime Hunters, and Animal Crossing. So, in total, I want our fan walking away saying, "Yes, I need to be a three-system household, SP, DS, and GCN."

I'll kill Nintendo if that is true!

Typical Nintendo. Going out of their way to screw things up for themselves in the future.

Why would someone need SP if they have DS?

^GB and GBC games. Nintendo knows that's important enough to buy two new handhelds.

They already said Revolution will be shown at E3, just most likely not on the floor to play with :(

exactly..... another way to lose 3rd party support.......... xbox ii and ps3 will be playable and so the third party developers will start to sign and jump on the bandwagon.

STupid Nintendo and their lack of doing things right.

Nintendo will miss out big time in the next generation if they don't showcase the Revolution.

Nintendo is just too secretive about everything they do, you can still be public about what you are doing without giving away too much.

AMN News Team Leader Ray Almeda had the recent oppurtunity to ask Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo's Vice President of Sales & Marketing, for a straight answer whether or not the Revolution would be playable or consumer-demoed at E3:

"We'll have more details there. But as for playing it at E3, not a chance. It's still way too early."

Also asked whether or not the upcoming Game Boy system, labeled "Game Boy Next" by some, would make any appearance at E3, Reggie said, "Game Boy Next? What is this Game Boy Next? People keep talking about Game Boy Next here and there. We're still committed to focusing all of our priorities on the GameCube, our portable systems including the DS, and the Revolution. The next Game Boy will not make an appearance at E3. It's also way too early."

DAMMIT!!!!

OMG, way too early for the GBA 2? Aren't they talking about releasing it later this year? They must not be planning to release it that early.

I'm thinkin it might coincide with the Revolution release.

The DS is a brand new product and not many people know about so it's definitely okay that Revolution isn't going to be present. Everyone is curious about the DS and how it works.

Nintendo Has 2 Mysteries: DS and Revolution

Sony Has 1 Mystery: PS3

Microsoft Has 1 Mystery: Xbox 2

Nintendo mentioned Revolution being shown behind closed doors to select people but when developers see how far along Sony/MS are with their consoles and how far behind it seems Nintendo is, they're gonna learn a hard mistake.

But who knows, maybe things will turn out great....

sounds like a justification. no one is all interested in learning about the all mysterious DS. they can walk into a store and play it. now i didnt say they arent interested in the DS, i said the 'all mysterious ds' the DS still has many things that people would like to know. but i certainly wouldnt call it a mystery, and if at E3, nintendo expects to show DS while MS and Sony are showing the first showings of playable knew hardware that no one has ever seen before, then nintendo is going to be hearing many crickets around thier booth.

I was kind of disapointed, but maybe it's for the best. Look how hard of a time Microsoft got after their E3 showing of Xbox sucked. They had to work their asses off to make themselves look good. Nintendo shouldn't show until it is going to blow peoples' minds.

I'm starting to lose a lot of faith in Nintendo's ability to stay afloat with the competition, if it is way to early to show the Revolution it just means that Sony and Microsoft are going to leave Nintendo in the dust.

The DS is a good handheld, but being able to play online only if your in a wireless hotspot may not appeal to people. What would cause me to go out and buy a DS is if they showcased some kind of palm software and media player at E3. Until then portables don't realy appeal to me.

I would at least like a final name for the console out of them. And maybe a logo. That would appease me.

if you tack down DS as a 'mystery', then it would only make sense to add PSP to Sony's list.

only if you thought logically, though...

Back on topic? Zelda? This is about the Revolution not being at E3....But they said more info would come out so basically I think Nintendo will reveal specs, and maybe it's real name.

Can't remember where I heard this (probably some IGN Board), but this made sense too me. E3 2005, they will talk a little about the Rev. Maybe show off what is so great about it. Then right before the launch, E3 2006 they will show the actually machine with all the launch games. Kind of what they did with the GameCube. Personally I think that is a good game plan.

Not a good game plan at all when both its competitors are showing thiers playable a year earlier, and one is releasing a year earlier. Nintendo would need to get the hype up a little before its competitors launch, so right before MS releases, give out a whole bunch of info. then right before PS3 launches show the whole thing. E3 06 might be too late, everyone might of already made up thier minds by then.

I'm forced to agree. People need to know now what Revolution is about. Otherwise they will be sucked into the Sony or MS camps.

Well, XB2 won't be out until december this year and Eł is already in May. They might as well fully reveal the Revo in August (Revelation of Spaceworld?).

But I still hope they will reveal what the technology is... although... without games, it might be a very poor demonstration.

1 thing I don't understand, can't they come up with some good tech demos / play demos before Eł? It's 2 months away!!!!
