Two artists, one winner, you decide their destinies.
Vampyr vs. Kyuzo
Good luck fellow vBookers! May we all come out with heavier wallets! ;)

Ya know, this is really going to become a problem...
Okay, hypothetical situation... so I bet for Vampyr, and I have doubloons riding on that. When judgement day comes, it turns out that I honestly like Kyuzo's work much better than Vampyr's, and had I not had money on Vampyr, I would have voted for Kyuzo...See what I'm getting at? It's just going to be the people who bet for Vampyr voting for him and the same for Kyuzo.

Heh...And not to say anybody would be this underhanded, but wouldn't it be possible for Kyuzo or Vampyr to make a private bet against themselves, and then throw the contest by making a poor effort?
You see how gambling can ruin a nice, peaceful forum?
:distress:
I mean, I guess I'm just saying that we should only bet on things beyond the realm of GT...I don't know, or at least not things that things that we the users actually vote on and decide the winner because there is too much conflict.

For one thing, you are betting on who you think will win. I don't think any more bets should be allowed after we post our work. Also, I think Kyuzo and I should be required to post our work at about the same time on Friday.
And I guess you'll just have to trust us. :D I have too much pride to throw it, anyway.

I'm not capable of throwing any graphics battle with my kind of talent in Photoshop/3DSM. :p
Besides, if I were to bet against me, I would be going against my integrity.
I'm trying to win a graphics battle, not money.

Im sure who wins... gets alot of doubloons... (man that was corny...)
Anyway, I'm willing to double up... All on Kyuzo!

Don't you mean "All in" lol (memories of Hold 'Em)
Anyways, thanks for the vote of confidence. I finally re-installed 3d Studio Max 7 on my new computer today, so theres no telling what kind of boundaries I'm willing to break with my art.

As of now, bets will be accepted until Thursday at 12:00 A.M.
If you guys finish your work early, don't submit it until Friday. The pay out date is currently set for the 15th but I'll adjust that once the event is over.
Since Thursday 12:00 A.M. is practically Wednesday night, maybe I'll change it Friday 12:00 A.M.
Once Kyuzo and Vampyr submit their work, it'll be transferred to a panel of experts that I've recruited who will analyze the work for any signs of cheating or foul play.
Good luck contestants!

After careful consideration, I'm starting to understand Germanator's point. I'm seeing now that no matter whose work is better, people will vote according to who they have money riding on.
When you gamble on something you usually don't have control over the outcome and so this makes this event very foul.
It's obvious people who bet it all on Vampyr will vote for Vampyr. And people who bet on me would vote for me.
Seeing as there is a bunch of money riding on Vampyr, I highly doubt I will win now.....
After seeing the submitted work, How many people can honestly say they would go against their bet and vote for the better piece? Not many people would choose to lose their doubloons.
This vBookie event has become a cheap easy money event. People who bet on the outcome should've have control over the outcome.
For this event, I CRY FOUL and I wish to have this vBookie invalidated.
And I'm challenging Vampyr with these new stipulations:
1. Must be more than 400x400
2. Elements can involve 3DSM/Stock Images/Photoshop
Voting:
10 to win
No Owned Voting
Winner:
Gets pride
Loser:
Gets respect for trying
I don't want ANY doubloons riding on this challenge, because it makes the challenge dirty... unless we can somehow restrict the people who bet from voting.

Nonsense, it is too late cancel the competition. The challenge will go on!
After the vBookie has closed and both competitors have submitted their pieces, my royal panel of 5 judges will critique your work and determine the winner. No judge will have participated in the vBookie.
My royal competition is 100% fair. Anyone who says otherwise will pay the ultimate price.

Vampyr just has a naturally larger fan base.
If people'd bet on him, they'd probably also have a natural bias.
Keeping the vBookie wouldn't be much different. People'd just end up with more dubloons.
