According to the latest EGM, (which i just got cuz i was gone all week and didnt see this posted at all. and im bored. :p)

says they have word from a high profile developer that has seen both pieces of hardware, that the PS3 is way way more powerful then the xbox2. and that its insanly powerful.

But this was in the rumors section so take it how you want. Just thought i'd share :p

E3 we will all find out. If PS3 turns out more powerful, what will MS Fanboys be saying? ;) :p

But graphics are slowing progression (yes, next gen games will look awesome but not as huge a leap, IMO) now it seems so who knows. We need to advance to the next step (whatever that is, VR? :p )

But hopefully all this "power" doesnt come at a huge cost

well it depends on what your looking for in graphics. one of the big things your going to get with the new gen and more power is SOOOOOOOOO much more detail. textures will be much sharper and clearer. and much much better lighting effects. just more detail. thats really one of the best parts in graphics. and is why i always hated the N64 and PS graphics generation (even when they were new i didnt like it) detail sucked on thoes. and i fear it will be the same for first gen VR gaming.

it was like the 8bit of 2d gaming, nes, then snes had much more detail.

then as i call it, we had the 8bit of 3d gaming, psx and n64.

and you know its coming, the 8bit of vr gaming, where we'll be in VR able to look around. but graphics will lack crisp detail and smoothness.

Oh yeah, I agree detail will be much better, but it'd be nice to even advance forward more with graphics besides more people on screen or crisper textures ;) :p

Not saying I hate even better looking graphics, I love how HL2 turned out compared to games like Doom 3 or Farcry, but I'd like to feel more "in" the game someday

yes well that someday is going to be a while.

perhaps someday. far after we're all dead and gone, they'll eventually have thoes hologram rooms like i remember seeing on star trek long ago. lol that would pretty much be the final on gaming. how could it ever get better? hehe

At the rate technology is advancing, holograms are a reality, just not in great detail....yet

I also found in a rumors website that PS3 will have regular controller ports and will have bluetooth ports for wireless controllers.

But one thing that caught my eye was the speculation that Sony was manufacturing DualShock 3 Sleeves. Which was a regular controller with extensions that strapped to your whole arms and when in game, you felt shock in your whole hand and arm...

I suppose that would deliver more of a feel of "in game" but I think it would get bulky.

Yes I posted this somewhere here.

It says the same thing in the back of that EGM where the editors are talking to each other. I don't know if it's the same person making the two comments. Actually the comment is the PS3 is "orders of magnitude" more powerful than Xbox 2.

If that's true I may pick PS3 over Xbox 2. At any rate it's doubtful I'll buy Xbox 2 at launch. This generation still has a lot to offer.

I strongly doubt MS is going to let themselves get outflanked by Sony. PS3 might be a more powerful system, but this "way way more powerful" just sounds like hyperbolic bull****.

PS3: Will it have Ace Combat 6? Will it have a game by the Rachet and Clank people?

If it can answer yes to both of those questions, I'll snag one.

Xbox2: Ninja Gaiden? PGR3? Rallisport Challenge 3? If it does, I'll grab an xbox 2, too. It's all about the games, it'll just be a matter of which system I get first.

It IS all about the games but in a retrospect this topic is about the 2 consoles.

You might doubt that MS is going to let themselves get outflanked by Sony.

But then again it might not be a matter of letting themselves.... It might be a matter of Microsoft doing the best they can to create an awesome system then finding out that Sony has come up with a better system. this isn't a fanboy statement as I am only taking into reference the current post from EGM at hand.

No one will ever let themselves be trampled or overrun, but look at Nintendo now? They've lost ground in the console market to Microsoft and Sony after being the pioneer after so long. And I DONT think they LET microsoft and sony do it either.

It's a matter of inevitability..... Xbox 2 has a slated end of 2005 release so I don't think Microsoft has plans to revamp their Xbox 2 after seeing this statement that PS3 might be more powerful. Unless they can revamp the system in less than 10 months.... which I highly doubt for any company to do.

Fact is... it's too soon to tell which system is better. But it's also redundant to say "Microsoft won't let PS3 be more powerful then them." Because it's all a matter of engineering and who does it better. We have yet to see their showings at E3.

Point being: A company can try their hardest to fight for the lead, but will lose it because of support and other key playing factors. For example... Nintendo being in the business for decades is now third to MS and SONY, and that is a fact not a fanboy statement. Nintendo has been in this business longer and has lost ground in the console industry. But do you think Nintendo LET them do it? No they tried their hardest.... and now they are fighting to KEEP their ever growing handheld market. Sony has stepped in and Microsoft in not too far behind, but again I say..... Nintendo won't let them take the handheld market without a fight. But if Sony or MS takes the market from Nintendo, it only means that Sony or MS has done a better job.

It's like going into a job interview with the intentions of taking the job from anyone else because you feel your more qualified. But the other guy gets it.... because he was in reality more qualified.

Like the tried and true quote, "MAY THE BEST MAN WIN" This next-gen will have a heated triple threat match and whoever dominates the next-gen will only mean they had a better console and better support. And DOES NOT mean the other 2 are lacking in any way.

So you're taking the position, for example, that it's not a question of what Nintendo has done "wrong" with it's past two consoles, rather it's what the other companies have done right. Mistakes made by Nintendo are only defined as mistakes when taken relative to the actions of others.

Well if you think about it.... it's not thought of as a mistake until someone does differently and does better with it.

When people drive and speed, they only see their mistake after they are pulled over, and that's relatively the action of others.

That is my thinking in many ways.... I just think Nintendo has fought hard and done their best but it's just that MS and Sony have done better this generation. MS with graphics and online, Sony with third party support. And not because Nintendo let them....It's because Nintendo took what they thought was a decisive path, and Sony and MS took another and did well in the market.

Another example.. for me... When I'm coding for my website, I don't see the mistake until someone tells me......then I fix it.

When a licensor, licenses an anime, and airs it on TV, and receives bad feedback..... it was a mistake...

So... I can safely say that is my position.... Mistakes are in correspondance to the actions of others around you.
