IM ABOUT TO KILL MYSELF!

i was messing around with winamp earlier because i'm stupid like that and now i can't get it back to the default modern skin from the godawful classic one... i've tried choosing modern, and it's STILL friggen classic. i've been at this for an hour.

SOMEONE PLEASE SAVE ME!

/me continues cursing loudly and throwing things at her moniter in a vain attempt to fix winamp

godawful days my azmoto! old winamp skin looks just as good :P

But did you try using a new skin, and then switching back to modern? ORRRR, i once had it where the skin wouldnt change. i slected one i wanted turned it off, (fully, meaning turning agent off too, if you actually have agent on) and then running winamp again. and it worked.

and if you dont have any new skins to try, Download MMD3 :)

well, when you close winamp, is there still a winamp logo in the system tray, bottom right corner? if so right click it and close it, or me personally, would select disable winamp agent.

and no new skins work at all is what your saying?

ulala06
02-25-2005, 11:17 PM
no, new skins work... it's just...

when i click on MODERN it's the same as CLASSIC and it's driving me insane...

i tried the closing the agent thing and it's stil effed up.

heh, just reinstall winamp over the winamp right now (dont delete it) all your skins and plugins will stay and it only takes a few seconds. thats the quickest way without searching thro the options to find out what you hit.

i wonder if its possible to delete the modern skin... hmm

its just easier to tell you that then to search thro winamp at all the options that might effect it. lol

Can I encourage you to try iTunes?

itunes is good for its music store. other then that winamp beats it hands down. Quicker, Smaller, honestly i like Winamps ipod support better.
And the biggest thing. itunes cant code mp3's in VBR.

I used to use winamp, but I've switched to iTunes. Winamp just seems way to glitchy to me. Back when I used it, something was ALWAYS messing up on it, and I never could get the playlists to work right. I like iTunes because of the drag and drop easyness of it.

there was a couple versions of it that were buggy now and then. but this version is pretty much solid. it is the last version after all.

but a side from the music store. itunes doesnt do anything better.
not being able to make VBR mp3's on it hurts a LOT, vbr's will give you better quality at less space. better with less space then itunes aac format also.

i find the drag and drop on winamp actually works faster. and in itunes, i have to click on a song, hold shift and click on the others to highlight the ones i want. Winamp i just draw a box around it with the mouse. works much faster when you doing a lot of highlighting.

Also winamp TV is cool when theres actually a channel thats not full. lol.

that and winamp can do a lot more with plugins and things.

for thoes ipod lovers they even got a pretty cool skin, it makes winamp look exactly like an ipod. menus and everything. scroll using the scroll wheel on it and use it just like a real ipod. lol. i dont use it but it was neat anyway. :p

I've been using Winamp since....well since Winamp 2 and I've never had any problems with it. I like it better than anything I've ever used before incuding iTunes. But that's just my experience. Of course some people will have problems with it.

I prefer iTunes after using Winamp. I just found it too clunky most of the time. I find iTunes to be more sleek and stylish. And, I can control iTunes with my keyboard and I could never get it to work with Winamp.

I liked Winamp for playing IE plugin links like midi and such but when it comes to listening to music I choose iTunes.

iTunes lets you listen to some good radio stations and the music store. Also, iTunes has a list of all your playlists right there waiting to be played, whilst in Winamp you must load a playlist. Unless that has changed in the current version?

I prefer Winamp over iTunes. It takes up less memory, and it's usually open when my computer is on. Hell, I've almost considering giving Winamp the permission to load on start-up, but I don't want to clutter my memory.

iTunes is....well, for me, it's in the same boat as Windows Media Player and Real Player. Quicktime is poopy too.

MuGen
03-02-2005, 02:38 PM
Quicktime isn't poopy because it's the best for watching streaming game trailers and movie trailers.... gametrailers.com.... Quicktime is the best choice for me... the WMP trailers dont load for me....

I use Quicktime when I go to gametrailers as well. :)

Also, it's the only format that photoshop recognizes, so if I want to put a video in my work, I have to have it in quicktime format.

I use Quicktime Broadcaster to have live, streaming web conferences with friends. And I use the Quicktime format when exporting iMovie and After Effects movies so that I can show them to my friends.

Me likes QT as well!

iTunes loads on start-up here. :D

I simply love it... I've tried Winamp (I think:(), but searching through songs was terrible. With iTunes it's so easy. :)

bad idea to make anything load on startup unless its needed. but to each thier own :p

and as for seaching thro songs. its pretty much the same on both. you just have to press the 'media library' button on winamp and its setup to list all songs, and has a seperate window where you can click on just an artist and filter out his only. or album and such. so for that they're almost identical.

Almost is a strong word for Winamp and iTunes comparison.

The Library in iTunes can be sorted in any way you please, or you can drag all of an artist inside a Playlist and click on the playlist and start listening. I like that rather than filtering everytime I want to see just one artist.

Winamp is good because it loads faster...

But I like the ease-of-use with iTunes, and you can go to iTunes Music Store integrated to buy some of the latest songs (.99 LEGALLY) and have it ready and organized inside the iTunes music folder which is organized into Artists, Albums already.

I believe iTunes to be more organized.

you can do the drag an artist into a playlist in winamp. thats what i was revering to. your filtering out that artist to show only his stuff. they work the same in that reguard not only that, but they look the same too pretty much, the media library in winamp and the library in itunes. altho depending on the skin winamp is easier on the eyes.

and as i said long ago. i like the itunes music store. but beyond that. winamp does pretty much everything else better and quicker.

MuGen
03-07-2005, 12:03 PM
so first they are almost identical and now winamp is better and quicker beyond the music store?

I dun wanna argue about this.... I prefer iTunes...

EDIT: I failed to mention iTunes burns CD's as well using an integrated CD burner finder feature thingy.

your taking words way too directly. almost identicle as in they do all the same things. maybe a couple of slight differences. like as i said already, in itunes i want to add a group of songs to a playlist. like 5 in a row that arent from the same artist or anything, i click on the first, hold shift and click the last one. then drag them all over. In Winamp, i draw a box with the mouse around all 5.
They do the same exact thing, one is quicker. This is what i mean by almost.
and i said winamp does most everything else better and quicker way way back, that statment has never changed.

and yes, of course itunes burns CD's, (cough, so can winamp) (and i still wish it could rip vbr mp3's like winamp and other programs do, that one always erks me)

But what the hell is a cd burner finder feature thingy? lol. altho i like the name of that. :p :D

MuGen
03-07-2005, 12:13 PM
simply put... it's a thingy that finds a cd burner? Well I haven't used Winamp in such a long time to actually know it burns CD's too.... lol the last time I used it was 2002.

So pardon my ignorance on this topic..... this might prove why I'm so iTunes preferencial.

im still lost on the cd burner finder feature thingy.

wouldnt a program that burns cd's but cant find a cd burner be totally pointless? sooo wouldnt they all have a CDBFFT ? (lol. i had to abbreviate it :p )

MuGen

CDBFFT... sounds very technologically advanced.

i.e. (REUTERS REPORTS THAT MICROSOFT WILL BE USING THE CDBFFT IN THEIR XBOX 2)

should start spreading that rumor around in forums. then sit back and laugh when the arguments between ps3 and xbox2 startup.

person1, ps3 is going the be more powerful!

person2, well xbox 2 is rumored to support CDBFFT !

person1, ****.... wish ps3 had cdbfft :(

About iTunes booting up every time: I always listen to music when my PC's on, so yeah, you wouldn't wanna advise me against it. :p

I just discoverd the option to 'switch songs off': by untabbing them it won't play them. I like that. There are songs that I don't want to hear randomly. I don't like them enough, but want to keep them, just for my library and special occasions. :)

Null
03-07-2005, 06:09 PM
actually i'd still advise against it :P boots up slower. i mean sure its only a few seconds, but faster just to boot up then run it.

And now stop it! :baby:
