I heard a report on the news today that Microsoft is recalling all power cords on XBoxes made before October 2003.

Microsoft is saying the power cords have been causing burns to hands and carpet. They also suggest that alll XBox owners turn their consoles off when not playing.

Will post more details if I can find an article explaining more.

I was just joking. But thankfully something is being done for just in case anything really serious ever occurred.

Yeah, I've had no problems with mine ever. But I ordered one anyway :D

You know, I had some major issues getting my serial number. The black ink they used rubs right off so the last 5 digits of my SN was illegible. I had to call their hotline and play with the automated voice for ten minutes before I figured out how to get to a live representative. But after that it was smooth sailing, Cindy was very helpful :p

Tsk tsk tsk :nono:

Dangerous power cords = Lack of effort in producing a quality gaming machine.

Even though I'm disappointed, I'll let is slide since this is only the first offense.

I've never had a problem with mine, but then again I don't spend a lot of time fondling my power chord... I let my girlfriend do that. *BA BOOM CHIC*

Why does your girlfriend have to fondle your powercord....is it loose in the socket! :sneaky:

PS... srry you left yourself wide open on that one.

My Halo edition Xbox is not affected.

But seriously, does anyone here actually leave their Xbox on when they aren't playing it? I know I don't.

I never keep it on, and as far as I havent had a problem yet. I checked the cord a few minutes ago after reading the thread and it appears fine.

Does your Xbox.com account keep your Xbox serial number viewable?

I'd like to order one, but my stuff in on the other side of the world. I'm just wondering, I don't want to waste all of my alloted time on this computer trying to find out if my Xbox.com account has my SN if it's not there.

Don't look now, but you have a minor furniture fire.
