Damnit to hell, I thought this was going to be a thread about wanting to legalize prostitution. Oh well....

1. What do you mean by habit? I almost never listen to the radio because I fear change. I have DVR record all the shows I like to watch and I do so when I have time.
2. I watch 24, Lost, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Survivor
3. I don't I listen to CDs, except for this morning talk show.
4. Because it's exciting, cheap, and I don't have to think too much unless I want to.
5. It's mostly about information gathering, social learning without the interaction, entertaining people, learning about other lifestyles, realizing the possibilities.
6. Eliminate local news, less product placement and advertising. Stop whoring out the same 15-second trailer of the newest show during every break.

Alexis/22/Caucasian/Kirksville, MO (Northeast)
1. I watch quite a lot of television. More than a couple hours a day (on average) Never listen to the radio.
2. Again, never listen to the radio. On tv I watch old shows like Full House, Nick at Nite, TV Land. My favorite show is Gilmore Girls, it is the only one that I make an extra effort to watch.
3. Don't listen to the radio. I guess I will on occasion tune in to the radio on a really long drive to hear news or weather.
4. I watch TV to relax. That is how I waste time between classes or how I procrastinate. Its also nice for noise affect. (I like a background soundtrack)
5. Entertainment.
6. Down with reality shows!! I want comedy. All of these reality shows are really getting on my nerves.
Yay, media! I did a huge thing on it in my History of Technology course.

Please answer these questions:
1. What are your listening and viewing habits (radio and television)? I listen to the radio while in the car, and I watch TV for a couple programs a week.
2. Generally, what do you listen to on the radio and watch on television? On the radio, it's usually Rock music, and I watch JAG and music videos on TV.
3. Why do you listen to the radio? for something to do in the car, or to support my favourite bands.
4. Why do you watch TV? To have something to talk about with my friends, for entertainment.
5. What is significant or important to you abou TV or radio? Radio is a great set of music with ok commercials. TV is overbloated with commercials and it's sometimes hard to watch.
6. What changes should be made to radio and TV? What could be done to improve broadcasting? Radio is fine as it is. I don't have any problems with it. TV is hard to watch, and I barely watch any at all. Maybe there should be some new restrictions to commercials, such as limit length, raising volume (which has been too common in current times) and the rate at which they appear.

1. I don't watch much TV at all. Probably 2-3 hours a week, now that football is over, and only in small amounts at a time. I do, however, listen to about 12 hours or radio a week. I listen to Loveline, which is a talk show with Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew. I only listen to music on the radio on short trips when I don't feel like searching for a CD.
2. On TV I watch reruns: Simpsons, Seinfeld and That 70's Show. I also watch Arrested Development on Sundays, and occassionaly, I'll leave SNL on while I play CS on a Saturday night. Radio: I listen to Loveline, and occassionaly music.
3. I listen to the radio because it keeps me entertained when I drive. I listen to loveline every night because I have been since 4th grade (I'm in 11th now), and I think it is the funniest show on the radio.
4. I don't know why I watch TV. TV is crap. I only really watch reruns, and that's because it is of old shows I liked....I'm not into reality TV, so I don't really keep up with the new stuff on TV. I have a TV void present in certain converastions. Oh well, I can tear you a new one if you want to indulge in music.
5. TV: Movies. Really, I wouldn't give a damn if I lost the ability to watch broadcasted TV shows. But, I use my TV as a projection for movies. That's why I like my TV. Radio: I like listening to Adam Carolla, he's one of the funniest men alive.
6. Changes? Well, first off, get rid of reality TV. It's crap. Second, get rid of the modern day sitcom. It also is crap. Radio: less commercials that involve penis and male enhancement, and more music. And when I say music, I mean less mainstream and more small stuff. And not even that. I mean, play some Melvins or something every once in a while for christ's sake.
Ahhhhh....good times.
My monitor is flickering right now. Stupid CRT piece of crap. Time to buy a new one.

1. I watch a ton of television, but only when I'm back at home. I'll pretty much keep the TV on all day if I have nothing better to do. As for the radio...I only listen to it in the car, and that's only when I don't have a better CD or tape to play.
2. I watch a lot of crap on TV... ABC Family reruns (Full House, Family Matters, Step By Step, Boy Meets World), then Fox reruns (Simpsons, Malcolm in the Middle, Seinfeld) Then some sports depending on who is playing. Not much for primetime TV on any major networks except a few shows on Fox. Oh yeah, most original HBO shows are great (Six Feet Under, Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Da Ali G Show) I'll also watch Comedy Central, Discovery, Sci-Fi, and variuous others when I'm bored. On the radio, it's pretty much four stations for me and that's it. I listen to NPR, the local oldies station, the local college music station, and the local sports talk station. The rest irritates the hell out of me. I'd say I listen to NPR the most out of all.
3. I usually listen to the radio only as backup if I don't have any CDs to listen to in the car. There are only a few choice shows on NPR that I actually tune in to see (Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, Fresh Air, some others) I'll turn to the sports talk station if the Eagles just lost or won or something because that's fun.
4. I watch because I have nothing better to do in the outside world. It's right there and it's easy to turn on. It gives you news and it gives you laughs. Good 'ol TV.
5. Nothing is really that significant to me personally. I love talking about old shows and I love watching them with friends and family and all, but it's hard for me to call that significant. It's entertaining, and sometimes educational and necessary.
6. I would like HDTVs to start to become cheaper (which I think they might be) I think this technology is pretty cool and would benefit from more viewers being able to buy it. Sattelite radio also seems to be the way to go for radio, but I don't use the radio often enough to plunk down and extra $25 for something that used to be free.

1) I listen to the radio before I go to bed and watch tv sparingly.
2) Radio: I listen to NPR for Fresh Air interviews. TV: I watch Scrubs, Committed, Lost, Leno, and Conan.
3) To listen to some nice monotonous banter to help me fall asleep.
4) I watch TV when I have nothing better to do or as background. (I prefer watching television programs that I download. No commercials and can watch on my own time.)
5) Spread of information...and occasionally it can be entertaining.
6) Get rid of reality shows. One of the biggest reasons I hate not having cable; all that's really on are reality shows. As for the radio, I can't stand music stations telling the public what they should be listening to. Plus the commercials are awful and many. I guess Sirius and XM are the answer to those problems.

Please answer these questions:
1. I don't watch a lot of TV. Probably 2 hours or less a week. I listen to radio everyday only in the car.
2. On the radio I generally listen to smooth jazz and oldies. On TV I watch drama, cartoons, and comedy.
3. To sooth myself and reduce stress levels.
4. To escape my reality. For comical relief.
5. The significance and importance I find in watching TV and listening to the radio is its ability to manipulate my feelings and mood.
6. Advertising and commercials should be reduced. Upgrading all home cable services to digital cable could improve television broadcasting. Moving all radio stations to satellite format would provide greater reception for a more enjoyable listening experience.

1. I listen to a lot of radio while I drive for my delivery job. I watch TV mainly at night before I go to bed
2. I like to watch Cartoon Network, including Futurama and Family Guy. I listen to some local radio stations and most heavy metal/rock/alternative
3. To pass the time while driving during deliveries
4. To pass the time before I go to sleep.
5. It is entertaining to watch and I like to just sit back and relax and listen to radio/watch tv.
6. Um, I don't know.

1. I listen to CDs, not the radio. I only watch TV when I eat dinner, when I'm with my girlfriend and she's watching TV, and when I wake up and my mom's watching the news.
2. On the radio, I listen to either Country or Classic Rock. On TV I watch the news, Comedy Central, some reality TV with the family, and anime if it's on.
3. I listen to the radio to wake up in the morning (alarm), or when my girlfriend is... or because I don't have a CD player.
4. I watch TV to get a little news, for comedy, and because other people watch it.
5. The news is pretty important. I also like the entertainment value of TV.
6. Radio would be better if there were more genre selections on the airwaves. Internet radio is awesome. TV would be better... if there wasn't so much crap. I'd love an anime channel, and I'd like to own cable with G4/TechTV... TLC is good too. There just isn't a good consistant line-up.

1. What are your listening and viewing habits (radio and television)?
I don't generally listen to the radio unless I have no CD available in the car. My television viewing habits have shrunken over the past few years and now I can barely enjoy any of it.
2. Generally, what do you listen to on the radio and watch on television?
On the radio, I usually listen to talk stations and shows like Tom Lykus and the like. For TV, it's either ESPN's Around the Horn and PTI, or Comedy Central and Conan in the summer.
3. Why do you listen to the radio?
I listen to the radio when there is no other alternative for entertainment.
4. Why do you watch TV?
Something to do while laying in bed.
5. What is significant or important to you about TV or radio?
Both help me keep track of my sports teams and enjoy their play.
6. What changes should be made to radio and TV? What could be done to improve broadcasting?
Underground Hip Hop stations should be more widespread and less commercials and Paris Hilton would be appreciated. It's not that there's something wrong with it now--the business has always been the same--it's just that I don't find most things on either broadcasts that entertaining.
Landon/19!/honkey/Kelowna, BC, Canada
1, I listen to the radio a lot in my car. About 50% music and 50% cbc. I listen to 'ideas' and a few other radio shows in my home because they rock...it's all about finding the time. I watch 3 hours maximum of TV each week.
2. I enjoy comedies and documentary type shows. I hate reality tv. I don't enjoy talkshows. I hate the news that's on my tv. It's slow, biased, and the anchorwomen just aren't that hot. I used to watch A LOT of hockey, but those days are over and seem like distant memories.
3. I listen to the radio because I like music and I find it to be a better news source than tv. I listen to the radio to expand my mind.
4. I watch TV to quench my boredom. To entertain and inform. Never to enlighten.
5. TV provides me with entertainment and the radio informs me of what's happening.
6. I think the FCC should stop interfering with people's freedom of speech. Censorship of TV and radio isn't the responsibility of the FCC, but of the parents/viewers/listeners. People can choose to not watch or listen to a show and should be responsible for what their kids are watching. It's a sad day when Peter Griffin's cartoon ass is blurred out because a network is too afraid of the FCC.

I live nowhere near North America so I don't know how relevant my answers are to you... but here goes anyway...
Yan/20/Chinese/Melbourne, Australia
1. What are your listening and viewing habits (radio and television)
I mostly watch television... Don't listen to the radio much since I started living in Australia. Never got used to them...heh. Plus, I've got more than enough songs on my playlist.
2. Generally, what do you listen to on the radio and watch on television?
I don't really like all those Top 40 stations as they all play the same thing ove rand over again. When I was in Malaysia, I always preferred those adult contemporary stations. Think Rod Stewart. For TV, I like documentaries (really!), trashy current affair shows, sports and the occasional movie. The news is good because I don't like reading the papers.
3. Why do you listen to the radio?
I hardly anymore but when I do, it's mainly because I need something to sing along to in the car.
4. Why do you watch TV?
I need an alternative besides from the computer ;)
5. What is significant or important to you about TV or radio?
Entertainment and information. Being in front of the telly is also somewhat of a bonding session between the boyfriend and I.
6. What changes should be made to radio and TV? What could be done to improve broadcasting?
Get rid of pointless programs, reality tv shows to be specific. There are some that I don't mind, for example The Amazing Race but I really don't see the point of shows that put a dozen of people together and make them lose weight or those that put some people in a house and film them bathing nude.
