That is how many seasons it has been for all major Philadelphia sports (counting this past devastating Eagles loss) teams since they have won a championship. I'm only 19 and I already feel like it's not going to happen in my lifetime and it's certainly wearing on me. Sure, it's just sports, but man is it rough.
Anyway, besides that, I can't complain much about recent events. The Spinto Band has just started a policy that we actually split up any money we make at shows. We used to just put everything in a fund, but we decided that it's not the way to go. Guess how much money I made this weekend playing three shows? $21!!!! Yes, and if you do the math, 21x7 means the band made $147 total...Not bad, eh? Considering normally I wouldn't have gotten anything out of it, I'm feeling pretty good right now. The band is also pretty close to signing a deal with a reputable indie label. If things go according to plan, the album could be out as early as May! This is the most exciting news we've gotten in a while, and basically the last thing holding us back from signing is some last minute contract negotiations which is going to cost the band roughly $2000. It's a ton of money, but then again, that money is split 6 ways, and with the remaining band fund chipping in, we're only going to have to play about $200 each...It's exciting though, and once it gets out I expect everyone here to buy a copy so I get my .05% of the proceeds, alright?
P.S: http://www.spintoband.com should be back up. It's been down for about 3 weeks now, but we were finally able to secure the domain name and all of that jazz, so visit away.
What else...Valentine's day is approaching, and again it doesn't mean too much for me other than that it's another reminder that I don't have a female companion. Then again, a girl that I've had a crush on for almost two years is back in town and she came to a Spinto Band show on Friday and it was nice. I became infatuated with her all over again, just like everytime I see her. This time she seemed to be coming on to me a bit. She asked me to dance and she was smiling at me from across the room. Of course with my lack of confidence with this sort of thing, my gut still tells me that it might not mean much, and maybe she was just being nice...I guess the problem is that even if I were to get the courage up to ask her out or something (which I've thought about asking her at least on 7 or 8 different occasions since the Fall of 2003...keep in my mind, she was out of the country for about 7 months, and I was in school for 6...) there is no guarentee that I would get to see her very often. I'll be in school in Vermont, and she will be in Pennsylvania. She's also originally from Australia, so I don't really know how soon or when she could be planning to go back there. I guess it seems like a no-win situation, even though I really like this girl.
I've said too much, but I'm bored...
P.S: If you're a follower of my blog posts, you'll notice that most are posted in the wee hours of Tuesday mornings. I think it's because I'm at my dad's house and truth be told there isn't a whole lot to do here besides surf the net. No video games. :(
Oh yeah, I bought my first ribbon today too. Rainbows, yay.
