I'm going to make this thread so that everyone can share their poetry with me here, whether it be free form or meter or any type of poetry. I have a piece I'd like to start with.
Also I had a poem published on poetry.com but I don't think too much of it... you may view it here Life as a Storm (http://www.poetry.com/Publications/display.asp?ID=P5455988&BN=999&PN=1)
"Our Surroundings"
'''The wind blows swift and constant
As the world changes before your eyes.
Concealed and veiled from our senses
another world exists.
One world sleeps, as another awakens.
Professed as dimensions, and realms
But veritably is just another layer.
We look into the sky and glance at the clouds,
Encumbered by a large scale of mystery.
Is what we see, actually?
Or can we validate imagination?
We wish upon stars, but what are stars?
Stars in the imagination, could be
Balls of fire, burning up the black space.
Falling from the landscape, a supernova...
exploding in the face of god.
But.. these are the mysteries, that build
great minds...
Minds that wonder...
What is out there?'''

I really enjoyed that poem, Kyuzo. :)
I recently got this one copyrighted, so I'm not afraid to post it.
Sleeping with Chaos
Look how our lives are changing,
Hear the new songs we’re singing?
But the flames of tradition are a’ blazing
And our purpose remains unchanging.
Every man killing for his holy land,
Every man fighting for his fathers land.
See what we’re living for?
When every person grows cold at the core,
When our grass grows scarlet,
And the world sells herself a harlot,
When the Earth knows madness,
How can we sleep in deafness?
Are we waiting on the angels of heaven?
Or waiting on the ferries of Oberon,
Or waiting on the elves of Rivendell?
Well there’s no one singing to save us,
And there’s no one flying in to wake us,
And there’s no one riding in to free us.
Not condemned to damnation,
We are our salvation,
But like dust in the wind,
On sleeps every nation.
We’re so self destructive,
When violence is so seductive,
And drugs feel reconstructive,
Why is peace so disgusted?
Battlefield children dying,
While the mothers are home crying,
The fathers pretend pride,
But tears of shame he can’t hide.
Kill ourselves off to war,
Shipped back home on a wooden floor.
Look at the diadems of our oblation,
Are they truly the saviors of civilization?
Well maybe our streets weren’t meant to be gold,
Maybe our rivers weren’t meant to flow from Avalon,
Maybe our angels weren’t meant to ride from Rivendell.
But we all eat from the Morpheus flower,
And we all sleep in the shadow of a media tower,
While a civil war grows by the bloody hour.
Not condemned to damnation,
We are our salvation,
But like dust in the wind,
On sleeps every nation.
But should we rise from this slumber,
We would all set and wonder…
How we got these stains on our hands…
How we lost our holy lands…
And how we failed to find
The crimson sin
In the minds of men.

How do you get things copywrighted and how much does it cost?

I second that question ^
Also, I think you're poem should be turned into a song. If I could sign your lyrics over to a major group, you and I could become business partners and head to Hollywood.

Too late. ;) I already have a band that I write for, and that already is a song.
And there are a few ways you can get things "copyrighted"
You could pay to have it copyrighted, but there are easier ways. Having something copyrighted basically means being able to prove that you wrote it before the person who is stealing it wrote it.
For example, if I publish this poem at deviantart.com (which I did), it says "copyright 2005" at the bottom of it.
What I like to do is take all my complete works, seal them in an envelope, them take it to the post office and mail it to myself and never open it. If I see that someone has taken my work, then I just seek legal action, show them the post marked envelope, and I would win because the date would be on it.
