For some reason, I've been into writing posts lately. I'm not usually this outspoken on the internet. Maybe it's because all I have right now is a laptop, and this is my only form of entertainment. Anyway, here is my new topic.

It's that period of time, where the next generation consoles are getting hyped on the internet. Rumors are flying around, E3 is approaching, people aren't thinking straight. Anything is possible, and people are sucking up rumors, wishing that they were true.

As of right now, Nintendo is at the end of it's GameCube cycle. It's not finished yet, but it's getting close. Nintendo has a new position opening... we'll call it Hype Manager. You will work directly under Reggie. In this position, it is up too you to get the general public excited about the Next Generation Hardware from Nintendo. You know everything there is to know about the Revolution and the GBA Revolution. You aren't there to change the image that Nintendo already has, you are just there to drink beer with Reggie and get the people around the world to talk about Nintendo. Of course, you are a part of the NDA. So you know that you can't give to much information away. So how do you this?

Now, if I had this position, there are a couple ideas that I would go with. First thing is first, I would want to keep the people that already have a GameCube, wanting the Revolution. So I would release teasers of the Revolution on some of the games that were released for the GameCube. But you would have to bet the game to unlock this teaser. This would be done on games that are released in March and April. What would be a part of these teasers? Something like "You are not ready for the Revolution". Maybe something explaining the tecnology that will be a part of the Revolution. Not so much explaining how it's going to be used with the Revolution, just what the technology is. Example, we are just going off rumors right now, HD-DVD. Explain to people what it is exactly.

Second would be concept art. You all know that R&D are working on what the Revolution is going to look like. There would be ideas that are just thrown out. Get those pictures that have been thrown and disregarded, have some kind of music video showing these pictures. Of course to get people excited/pissed... once you watch the video, it shows it only once, and after that it locks that video. Never being shown again. So people are like what in the hell was that.

So if you had this position... what would you do to get the world Excited about Nintendo Again?

I would make sure that the design of the system is very ver cool, with a lot of curves and engraved shapes that give it a great futuristic look.

And I would not color it purple, or shape it like a purse. It would be a chrome metal black, and the engravings would be a chrome dark metal purple.

As sad as it may sound, I think the aesthetic looks of the actuall system is a huge factor in which one people like the best.

I would also advertise the specs of the machine. Nintendo said before that those don't matter, but if you advertise them on a commercial or whatever, people will be impressed even if they don't understand what they are.

I would also use the old "sex sells" campaign. It's low, but it works.

Release a few teaser screenies of what can be done with Revolution. Give something for people to drool over. Best way to do this is show a few screenies of the Revolution Zelda game and Mario game. Make the Mario game more "traditional" (or Mario 64'ish :p ) and tell people these are renders of what is capable but since its technology still in the works so they may be unable to have everything available to show right there.

Use those screens as fodder until E3 then unveil the big guns to the world. Unfortunately I doubt it would be playable at that point if the technology isnt all there yet but if you can show off some great videos of whats to come. Announce what games are in the works to get people salivating.

Don't overhype the console but show off its strengths. Don't make it sound like the second coming of Jesus but tell the world whats to come and what will make you consider it.

Show off some new games also for the next console. Keep the games that are always fun to play but make some new launch titles also.

For colors and the look, make it more pleasing for everyone. The big issue with the Gamecube is people go "OMG, Its a purple purse, ewwww" and don't buy it.

Every company will hype their console but there is such a thing as overhyping (*cough Halo2 *cough* (sorry, had to :D )

Working under Reggie? The only way me, work, and Reggie would ever be in the same thought is if I was a mercenary :D
