There is no doubt in my mind that there are ghosts in those areas. I've always believed in ghosts and have lived with at least one most of my life. If you're used to it, its really not that bad. Sometimes they get upset and make noises and/or move stuff but if you talk to them they generally stop. The one at my Grandmother's house (where I live now) is another story. Its been getting increasingly agitated over the last few months and I believe has even tried to communicate with me (All I heard was a short loud buzz next to my head after some banging around my room). I don't sleep there much anymore and have been spending most nights at my parent's (with the relatively benign ghost) or my girlfriend's. If I'm drunk enough I can usually sleep through it, though. I have more stories but I've babbled long enough.

Yeah, I live pretty near the Brandywine Battlefield too. Do you ever dare set foot on Cossart Road at night? The folklore about that area is crazy.

I don't reckon I believe in the supernatural. Although, I won't crap on anyones stories, because even several of my teachers have told stories about ghosts, and I would need some evidence other then my instinct to disprove the existance of ghosts.

Still, freaky stuff. And who wouldn't be freaked out? We are talking about thousands of bodies floating around in the water..........I mean, just the dead people would scare the sh*t out of me, let alone the supposed ghosts.

No, but I recently saw a colonial soldier walking down my road right outside my driveway. That was a first for me ever seeing an "ethereal" (sp?) ghost, meaning I could see through him. The only other ghost I've ever physically seen is the one at my parent's place. She is very real in appearance. I actually have three friends of mine who have sworn never to set foot in that house again because of her. She was frisky one night before a golf outing. Footsteps going up and down the stairs all night, the mattress dipping up and down (like someone was getting in and out of bed, not some crazy exorcist stuff), and her sillouette in the doorway was enough to convince them. :D

As for proof, I was very skeptical of a lot of what my peripheral vison saw and my ears heard and what I might or might not have "misplaced", but there is one thing for me that sealed the deal on ghosts for me:

My parents have a finished attic. When you close and latch the doors to the rooms, the next morning they are all open. Every time. I've tried this while watching the house by myself.

I don't think I've ever witnessed any supernatural dealings myself...

Sometimes I think it's bull, but other times it seems so convincing... Coming from reliable sources, etc...

Someone on my mom's side of the family apparently lived in a house with your very typical ghost stories... Things moving, noises, etc...

And one time in my grandparent's old house while my grandma was alone, she said she heard someone come in the house, walk upstairs and rock in a rocking chair... but nobody was there and they didn't even have a rocking chair...

although i believe most of these 'ghostly encounters' are tricks the mind plays....i believe in spirits hanging around for a reason....i dont think they show themselves though *shrug* *pRays: please dont prove me wrong*.... :D i get spooked by intuitive feelings that something bad is happening..like a cold breeze out of no where....or a flickering light or floor boards creeking when youre alone...i feel spirits do ahve a way of showing u that they are there...k i sound like a mad girl now...

The reason they are talking about foreign ghosts all the time is because Thai tradition is you usually need to bless or cremate your relative to have him pass. But since the tourists didn't have family or died w/ their family, they are wandering the shores.

Speaking of supernatural encounters, I was recording to myself a speech I had prepared for a class presentation. I played it back and in the middle of the speech I heard a noise. I imported it into my computer and tweaked it up, and it said, "what are you doing?"

I was freaked out... and no one was watching me do this speech and i was alone that night...

Didn't I say that there would be many restless souls in the disaster areas when the actual thing happened? Who knows. They're lingering on because of their sudden death or whatever the reason may be. I'm almost sure there are ghosts there.
